Riding Hints, Tips and Tricks

A lot of you probably suffer from blisters on your hands too whilst riding, I was wondering if anyone had tips on keeping them at bay as I get them incredibly easily (after 20-30mins of riding)

i have been doing about half an hour a day, just on my balance but with the engine off, my progress was really slow, i could manage about 5 seconds at the very best until i read through some of the posts and over night i can now do over one minuet, i couldn't believe how much easier it is bye letting air out of my tyres and standing in the correct way, tomorrow i am going to start learning to balance after coming to a stand still with the engine running, is their any other tips that you could share with me, that could make it easier or is it just the same as doing it without the engine running and plenty of practice.

  3. Hi guys, its been 2 days since i ride this no-seat bikes and find really uncomfortable with stock levers, specially the clutch... Ive been riding bycicle trials, stunting sportbikes and riding enduro with chopped levers. where I just operate the levers with my index finger... Pros that found are... -You dont pinch your other 3 fingers with the lever -As you will be woriking the lever closer to the bar, with almost a closed fist stance. wou will be using a stronger muscle group (1st flange, rather than 2nd and 3rd for non chopped) for working the clutch and front brake gives you less cramps and is more precise to control under stressful rides -Lowers the chance of a b…

Hi all. As the title says..... Sometimes my clutch finger locks out straight. Which at the top of a big blast up a hill can be a problem, resulting in some unsightly mess sometimes. Does this happen to anybody else? What the f... am I doing wrong?

Has anyone got any tips on doing 360 wheelie turns on a trials bike? I can do a 180 by sticking my foot down and leaving the other one on the peg but I would like to do this with both feet on the pegs. What gear should I be using as well?

I know this subject has probably been discussed many times before, however i would like to put forward my observations on technique. Through forums etc i have been instructed to drop the knees forward to compress the front forks, and then to gently pull on the bars while transferring the weight over the back of the bike by straightening the knees. While gently pulling on the bars i find myself pulling myself forwards which is exactly the opposite to what i am trying to acheive. If however, i PUSH against the bars while straightening the knees my weight will automatically be transferred to the back of the bike.

Okay, so because of my location it means i have to travel around 1 hour 30 mins to get to the closest training grounds which on an evening is to far so i was wondering is there anything i could do in my backyard to allow me to train on evenings as well as the weekends. Bare in mind my garden isn't too big so i couldn't setup a section or anything like that but some little things to try would be great!

I always have trouble with the same type of section. Imagine a section where you head up a loose, sandy, slope and have to turn to then ride across the slope. When I do this I usually end up with my front wheel slipping back down the slope taking me outside the next set of flags! Can anyone suggest a technique for address this?

  9. Hi everyone!... Long story short, Ive been riding biketrials since i was a teenager and stunting sportbikes for 7 years, I have the trials motorbike itch installed in my mind since i knew about its existence. Planets have aligned and im waiting for a Beta EVO 300 2013 as my first real trials motorbike... I have no natural spots to ride here, its all plain-soft ground all around 400kms... So.... Ill have to make my own obstacles... It would help me a lot if you guys could describe, list or post pics of MUST HAVE obstacle to make my learning process as efficient, fun and safe as possible... I have access to pallets, cable drums of all sizes, drums, and used tyres of a…

  10. Is anyone offering training suitable for beginners in the north east? I asked at Warden Law and they said someone used to do lessons there but they haven't seen them for ages. I'm just looking to speed up my progress since I've missed the summer with bike faults. I've got about 6 hours experience on a trials bike so I'm a total novice. (I'll hopefully get a few more hours tomorrow at Warden Law, if I'm not too stiff after Fridays fall - I hesitated twice, on and off the throttle when I realised I had no idea what was over a hill I was half way up, flipped it and didn't land too well.)

Is there such a thing? Im trying to train often, ie 4-5 times a week. Am I over doing it? Reason im asking is my body is taking strain....elbow issue, sore arms etc. Would I be better off doing less or should I push through untill the body adapts?

My best buddy (and riding buddy) are hours apart and seldom get to ride together, but we went out this weekend and he brought his camera. Riding with my son and best friend made for an incredible day!

I wonder if anyone can offer some advice. I am going to get into trials locally and have bought I bike but have yet to get a trailer etc. However in the interim to get a little practice and training I fancy a trials experience day. I have done a little reseach and the following two look good. http://www.trials-sc...ing/info_4.html http://www.muddy-wheels.co.uk/ Ideally I would like some 1 2 1 training but not too worried about groups. I just wondered if anyone else had any experience of the two above or would recommend any others. I am based in Berkshire so ideally in the south/midlands would be best. Thanks!!!!

I'm struggling with anything bigger than something I can just push my front wheel out a bit to keep from bottoming. If I try to wheelie off, I often get too much speed and need more run-out than I'd like to slow down after I hit. I seldom get it right, but when I do, I feel like the front wheel is pretty high and I drop straight down and stop, but I can't get it consistently. Any tips?

  15. Started by mokwepa,

Hi guys Thought i would start a new thread that will help novices (such as me) to practice the more important techniques of trials riding, hopefully with the help of the more experienced guys here. Basically i would like to make a list of the trials riding techniques that should be practiced and in what order they should be learnt/practiced in relation to importance and difficulty as well as relevance to say, clubman events. This could be horribly wrong and im sure ill miss some importants steps out, but here is my example: Balance Figure 8's Little weelies Riding over small obstacles (lower than bash plate) Cambured turns, up & down, tight. Riding over bigge…

Okay, so i thought i would start this little thing where after every time i have been on my bike or done something to my bike i will write about it, include pictures and maybe even videos eventually.. What i am hoping for is some feedback about what i am doing wrong, what i am doing right etc. I ride a Beta Evo 2011 290cc! I am going to go and give it a clean and once it is done i shall post a few pictures of it!

Trying to go from the floor straight to the back wheel being on the log (not sure if this a double blip or what?), anyway so far i'm managing to compress the forks on the log then i'm trying to spring the back wheel straight up, but as you can see in the video the back wheel isn't really jumping up. I can definitely feel that i'm making a difference to the back wheel as it seems like its gone really light and is floating over the log rather than banging in to it and hanging up. So what do I need to do here, is it just that I need to work on compressing the rear suspension more/harder/faster on the approach? http://youtu.be/j614SglIKOU The very first move in the video…

I thought this would be easy, but they kick my butt! The rail bed is built up with gravel and it shifts easily. I have a hard time getting enough traction and holding pressure over the first rail, so the front drops, hits the next rail and stops me dead. I can sometimes do it diagonally, but if I don't hop the rear up enough, it hits the rail and it's very slippery. I fell the other day and there was actually a train coming! How do you cross the tracks?

Keen to learn this so my question is, is this something that is easier learnt on a good sized obstacle or is it something that can be learnt on a small obstacle? I know some moves are alot easier when done in full size as when scaled down the bike is all in the wrong position. Also is there a way of training for this on the flat? I can already bunny hop the bike by raising the front up on the throttle, compressing the rear end then shifting weight forward and blibbing the throttle, I guess some of that is transferable to the zap. See video... http://youtu.be/dTSd4MbzoGc .

Logs (for instance) that I wouldn't even think about on an uphill or flat strike terror into my heart when on a downhill. Any suggestions....aside from "stop being a girly-man"?
