Looking to change the crankcase seal, gearbox side, on my Beta 250Rev3.
Is it a simple enough job, I know my way around an engine, but don't fancy splitting the crankcase...
I suspect the seal has gone as I am burning oil, and suspect the transmission oil is getting passed the seal...
Any advice appreciated.

is it the air mixture screw I need to adjust then, to see if that helps..??

Just put my engine back together after spending £290 for a cylinder replate and matching new piston. I sent away the cylinder to get measured as the engine was a little rattly and smoking when revved.
But it is still the same, smokes when revved. I would guess its a blue oily smoke rather than a white smoke.
I am using Castrol power 1 fully synthetic 2 stroke oil mixed at 75mil -5litres of fuel.
Any ideas????

I am in a similar situation.
I took the barrel off my Rev3 to inspect the piston and bore, and also after a rattly engine.
Had initially thought i would just put some new rings in and job done, but after sending my barrel to Longcourts for measurement, it is confirmed that the barrel is worn, alot...
So with the advice of Langcourts the barrel is being replated to original size with a new piston to match..
Expensive, but worth doing right.

Hi, it is a Rev3 250 year 2001

looking for some rings for my tired 250..Been quoted £60..Any other suppliers to try??? Uk based..

How easy a job is it to change the big end bearing on my Beta 250? I realise the cases need splitting and the crank then needs splitting to get to the big end, but am guessing there is some expertise or special tools required along the way.
My engine sounds rattly and just taken the piston out to check the little end, whilst that seems not too bad, there is definitely play in the con rod.Or do I just send it off to somebody???

carb is currently in bits, soaking it in carb cleaner overnight...
Lets see if that cures it. couldn't see any crap in there though..
-
lockie28 its the standard rev 3 carb, fitted circa 2000 on. A Mikuni...
-
I swapped my carb over to this bike and it runs perfect.
So its clearly a carb problem.
But what?

I have now managed to get my sons Rev3 running after a stator rewind and new CDI. However with the choke off the engine speed seems to surge at low speed,ie not smooth and consistent.
With the choke on it seems to be a lot more stable, and when I put the choke off again engine speed increases!
I have removed and cleaned carb, even checked inlet boot for splits and even removed manifold gaskets, cleaned and reinstalled, yet problem still exists.
Any ideas??

jfc my son has a rev 3 and thought great, i will just swap bits over. sadly my bike is a 2000 model and the stator changed in 2003!!!!
-
dadof
my stator was rewound by Bradford Ignitions.
-
stator was rewound yesterday, so I am presuming that works fine now and was tested before being sent back to me.
kill switch is disconnected!!!!
-
I still have no spark after sending my stator off for a rewind.
I was experiencing hard starting and eventually wouldn't start at all. Checked the obvious, spark plug, coil, HT lead all connections. so sent stator off. just fitted it and still no spark. Checked all connections again and cleaned.
I suspect the CDI, but at £170 am reluctant to spend that until I know there is nothing else it can be.??
Thanks

i am after a rear mudguard for a 2000Beta Rev3 and a 2004 Beta Rev3.But i cant anywere. Why havent the likes of Polisport started to make aftermarket plastics for trials bikes.?
I am sure there is a great demand.
-
cheers chaps. Interesting reading..
Fork seals need doing at the very least.
-
thanks for reply. So i presume my bike is a 2000 model then and not 2001.I guess somewere along its life somebody has put 2001blue plastics on it...
-
Beta rev3 2001 i have just bought has these forks and yokes. Any idea what they are off.

My son has a gas gas 50 cadet 2007, he uses the clutch /gearbox with ease, but the engine is really really lacking in grunt..
I saw somwere a 70cc big bore kit, but cannot find it now.. I spoke to gas gas uk, and they can get one for

The frame is part magnesium, and apparently, powder coating magnesium is notoriously hard to do. As when magnesium is heated, it gives off a vapor/gas, and it causes a pinhole effect on the powdercoat.
Also the fuel tank forms part of the frame, so baking that, poses a problem!

Looking to paint my Ossa 280 frame and swingarm green..
Have seen the latest 2013 model is green and it looks great.
Has anyone any suggestions as to what paint to use..... 2pack, Cellulose, etcetc...
Thanks
-
Ah haa...
Well that's cleared that up.
Many thanks
-
As per the title I need to get fluid into my rear brake master cylinder, but as Ossa decided to mount it vertically, it poses a problem, if you just wanted to pop the lid off and top up, just as you would with the Front Master cylinder.
Do I need to Use a Syringe and fill from the bleed nipple on the caliper, or is there another way.??
Cheers
