  1. The old one is in bits cracked badly. Going to check that the shaft is locating all the way into the bearing tonight. Thanks
  2. Didn't replace the shaft, but I did remove it to insert a new kick start stop. I have tried to put the shaft in further but it is in a far as it can go. I will take it out tonight and check that the casing bearing is not restricting it.
  3. Hi, I have the same problem, my kickstart binds when the clutch case is on tight. Can you give me more information (part number of a picture of the aluminium collar and how it should look)Thanks
  4. I have just replaced a cracked clutch casing for a friend on his Gas Gas 280 TXT. Everything looks fine, the springs, washers all are in right position. The kick start works fine with new case either removed on put on slack. As soon as the bolts are tightened the kick start seizes up. Pulling my hair out. Any advice welcome. Cheers.
  5. Thank you very much, you have been a great help, much appreciated. For some reason it seems that my spokes have 222mm on both sides this is no doubt the reason why it has no off-set.
  6. Can someone please inform me of the lengths of the spokes on a rear Sherco/Gas Gas Wheel? I have bought a rear wheel and it has been trued centrally with no offset. I need too measure the spokes too find out which ones on what side are correct before I order the correct spokes. Thanks

    Timing retard

I have been reading all the posts regarding the need to retard the timing to smooth things down a little. On the RY post it states that before you retard the stator plate the piston must be at TDC. Is this really the case or can you just remove the flywheel retard the stator and re=install the flywheel? and job done. I am looking to do this job today and some help would be appreciated. Cheers in advance..

    Rear shock set-up

Just one more question "sorry" Would the bike have more traction and grip in slippery conditions with the rear spring wound up tight or with the spring loose. Thanks
  9. Yep, that is exactly what has happened, the rim has had its day.I have found that a gas gas 280 pro wheel fits perfect. So if I cant find a Sherco wheel I might find a GasGas.

    Swingarm Axle

Just did mine, it was totally seized, would not turn at all, Allan key snapped head off bolt. I soaked it overnight with WD 40, bought a new bolt and smashed it out with a lump hammer and a long round chisel, took 10-15 minutes but its out.
