Thanks guys, 0007, what causes pre ignition?
-
Hi all, Last year I stripped the engine on my 05 rev3, and replaced the seals, all was running great for about 4/5 trials, then, midway through a trial the engine started to rev it's bits off! And I couldn't shut it off, in the end it seized up and I had to have a new piston and relined barrel. I have checked the carb and the slide is running smoothly and shutting off crisply, the cable is ok and moves freely, has anyone any idea what caused this as I'm about to start her up for the first time, and I don't want to blow the engine again.I also checked the reeds and they were ok. Thanks Tony.

I'm sure I have seen on this forum how to adjust the float level on a 06 250,but can't find it now can you help please.

Hi, Can someone help me please, I have an 06 scorpa I'm changing the gear oil on, on the caseing it says 700 CM3, is that 700 ml? cheers.

HI all, I have had my engine out for some work etc on my rev3 05 which has taken some time, on putting my carb back I noticed there is a fitting for a small pipe/hose on the underside of the float bowl, but I can't for the life of me remember what was on there,or where it goes to. Any ideas please, cheers, Tony.

Thanks Neville, Just e-mailed Steve, cheers

I had the stator rewound at West country windings, checked the earths, the only thing I hav'nt changed is the coil/ plug cap, do you think that could be playing up?
-
Hi Guys, Thanks to you lot, I've finally got my 2005 Beta 250 engine built and in,I've had the bearings bore, rings, etc checked, new oil seals, gaskets etc, got a new CDI? (black box) had the stator rewound. When I try to start it, it kicks back really badly but won't start, when I put the stator back I put in the same position there were indents where it had been, I've tried moving it in the same direction as the crank (retard)?still won't start but now it backfires though the exhaust. Please help I'm at my wits end, I've done all this and it's the same as when I started!!!
-
Cheers Paul, I think it's the bearing gone on the gear lever side of the selector cam, it's so baggy it just pushes it to one side and jaming up, I'll let you know when I get a new bearing, Ta, Tone.

Guys, I have had my engine apart, and have assembled it and can't select any gear, I have split the engine again and it's still impossible to change gear even though there is no pressure on it. What am I doing wrong?

Thats great thanks very much.

Hi Guys, I'm putting the reed block back on the engine, but I can't remember which way it goes ie; reed block first then thick spacer then inlet rubber, or, thick spacer then reed block then inlet rubber!!! PLEASE HELP I'm so close now!

Hi Guys,Can anyone tell me the right way round the main oil seals fit please, I think it's the open side towards the inside but I wan't to be sure, Thanks.Tone.
-
Hi, Whilst I have my carb off I thought I would check the float level, under "carb leaking fuel" (page 5) there is a link to "BETA CARB MOD." Which tells you the position the tangs sit at when the carb is upside down, mine sits down a lot further, the only way I can see to move it is to bend the small tang that the float needle fixes on, is this right? Thanks Tone.

Guys, A couple of things I need help with please, is the nut holding the clutch basket a left or right hand thread, only its really tight and I don't want to break anything! I am trying to split the engine so that I can check bearings and change seals, I have the engine out and taken out the bolts on the right (stator) side, the engine doesn't want to come apart, do you have to take off all the stuff on the clutch side? gearbox etc? and should the engine come apart easily (without persuasion?) I hope someone can help please, cheers Tone.

Hi, Can you change the main seals without removing the engine?
-
Thanks guys for your help so far, I have removed the barrel there is sideways movement but I can't detect any up and down play. Can you replace the main seals or the big end without removing the engine?
-
Thanks Rev3, If it's as you say would that stop it from starting?
-
Hi All, I hope you can help me, I have a 2005 ish Rev3, last time out it started revving faster & faster on tickover as I went along I had to keep unsrewing the stop on the carb, at the same time it started knocking under load, would not start at all the next day. I spoke to some of the guys and one said to check the stator, so, I've had the stator rewound, nothing, put on a new CDI black box, plug. When I kick it over know it won't do anything unless I give it full throttle and all it does it kick back like a good un! To me it seems like the timing is out but when I took the stator plate off it looked like the only place it's been although it is towards one end of the slots. Can someone tell me in idiot language how I check the timing please.I have had the carb off and blown it all through.HELP please, Tone.
