Hi guys.i have a 4ride and i recently changed the engine n gearbox oils.putoline oils where used for both..this is the first change from wat was in the bike from new.. now my bike lurches a bit when you engage gear and its very hard to fund neutral when the bike us running...could it be down to the oils used..its ver near impossiple to find neutral..once ye turn the engine off you can do it no bother... any ideas please..

    Hey Clarky...ye dont know me but i did watch yer youtube vid on the hydrolock...i just drowned my 4ride a few weeks ago. But it survived. But it needed a new condenser n rectifier n a lot o checking..there was water in everything. Ive watched yer vids on the tube...brill..where ye fae am in motherwell. I was lucky to say the least it coukdve been much worse. Me n the bike went totaly under the water n it was just a ouddle in a track..i didnt know how deep it was till i saw the front wheel dissapear..coukdnt get ma right boot off the peg quick enough tae get ma foit down n we both fell over..probably 2 plus feet o water

Well I bought the scorpa sy175F, a few days ago, its a good goer, but need rear wheel bearings replaced and rear brake bled as its not working, ive had second thoughts onit,, wish id have just went an bit the bullet wi the sherco, but as the sayin goes ye snooze ye looze... but alls not lost i have it on ebay an the classifieds here.. so maybe get it away an get the sherco.. I will buy the sherco, if i sell this...or should i say WHEN i sell this I dont think al be long, as it is a rare bike, with a wee bit o maintenence thru at it an maybe a few quid,, this will be one good bike,, it is powerful enough, but I didnt have it in any sections.. but the bumf ave heard about them is all good......... so see whit happens, i dont know what i can say here or not abouts selling it, as a dont want tae get into trouble an get banned. but as a said its on ebay, an if a dont give te link to it,,surley i havent broke any rules.....cheers Guys.watch this space...sherco is shouting

  4. T shock.. I havent given up on the 4 stroke scorpa,,, I have had 5 hrs today on the sherco, am quite knackered the now,, ma elbows shoulders an wrists, not been on a trials bike fur at least 3 years,, but i enjoyed it,, id liek to try a few other ones before commiting maself,, the bike in particular is a grand, an it looks like new, I dont think its had a hrad life at all an never trialed unless the owner has renewed everything,, the engine is still tight an smooth. i need tae have a go on a few different ones, preferably smaller cc to see the difference,,,, had to feather the clutch a lot, but not unduly bothered me too much, i like the bike, an want tae spend ma money wisley,, the bike i think, is well worth the money. but i need to try the scorpa before i make up ma mind,, its a scorpa sy175.. today i was only trundling around,, tried a few sectional hills, never made it, but desperate tae try the scorpa,, an see wit its like compared tae the 290. will report back soon....... would a montesa 4rt be more suitable fur me,, or are they handfuls ? I want to trundle around, maybe do clubmen trials, at best,, am 615" an 20 stone, but reletavly fit.. a have a wee bit o a belly but not bad, na height covers that... but wantin tae lose weight also.. am 52 yrs old,,so my chances of world series is a NO GO... i want tae throw it in ma bvan an go tae europe an do the high hills... what ye think...... me

  5. Guys,, Im off tae look at a 290 sherco which is a good looker commin fae the owner.. is it a GOOD or a BAD bike mechanical wise an in a TRIALS bike.. whta do i need to look out fur, its an 03, any further than this would help me loads. cheers. an Happy new year.. john

  6. If it has been previously registered then DVLA will use that number.

    If it came back registered and clean all you'd need to do is apply for the log book. DVLA would check with the previous recorded keeper and then, assuming it was all ok, send you the certificate out.

    If it came back unregistered and clean you'd have to go through the normal Used Vehicle Registration process.

    If it came back stolen, on finance etc then the people with an interest in it are notified - and you'd be best staying clear.

    If you don't have it checked and then try to register it you could (will) end up with a problem if it has a dodgy history.

    Any Enduro or Trail bike which doesn't have a log book in the current owner's name should be checked. Why would anyone buy a new enduro or trail bike (and pay a premium over a motocross bike) and then not register it for road use? Some enduro bikes don't get registered but most do.

    Scorpa TYS125 4T started in 2004 (available December 2003) I had one of the first ones, kept it for a couple of years and it brought my riding on no end. Fantastic little bike. The next iterations were the 143cc and then finally 163cc - (confusingly named 175 and 200!) after selling my 125 in 2006 I went back to Scorpa and got a 2008 SY200 this year (which was really hard to find !) The last models are the 2008 - you will struggle after that. The main problem is availibility of bikes - no one sells them ! My advice if you can get a reasonable condition 143cc is to buy it and try it. It should be more than adequate for easy route trials. If you dont like it - you can always sell on and will lose no money. As regards power/weight, Im a bit ligther at 12 stone, but I would say I have a Honda TL125 which I trial, its got a bog standard 125 engine with all of 4bhp - but it grips tremendous mainly through being relatively 'underpowered' and predictable.

    My advice - buy and try !!

Thanks fur that,, I have been searching the whole of the web like crazy, looking fur info on the 4t scorpa.. really anyone.. an their hard to come by.. an thats not the ones fur sale either.. I was wanting to know, what years that Scorpa brought out their 4ts wether it is a 125, 143.160,250. as most pics i see of the bikes, anywhere all show ye pics of the offside. what can i look fur in a picture of the right side to tell me its a 4t.. as teh 2t`s look the same other than the bulge in the exhaust,, an ye only see that if theres a pic o the left side.. is their any links to ANY websites, that gives ye pics o the syf`s am NOT interested in any 2t`s only 4t.ive had in the past, 2 honda TLR 250s and i had an italjet Scott 350 with the Ducat engine.. i wish id have kept all 3 off them now,, as ad be a rich man... the Scott, ave now found out, they only ever made 100 off them.. anyway any links John wid be great,, an especially wi Pics.. if ye want tae email me please do, at tichrich@blueyonder.co.uk wi even some pics o yer own.. an maybe some pitfalls to look out fur. i have the chance of a 143cc... its really a 125 but wi a 143 kit in it... whats the kind o money am expected to pay fur any of the syf range.. even if ye email me , if ye dont want tae tell everyone... is their a following after the 4t range. i prefer them as i like 4t`s, av never been a 2t man..i like the torque. amongst a few other things... anyway John. if ye email me a`l look forward tae opening it up. cheers . afk/john

I have the chance of a Trail bike,, its in good nick all numbers are on the bike,,but no reg plate... the guy said it was an import, but it could be stolen as well... its a 82.. is it worth the hassel o finding a reg.. ? if its got a reg an its NOT stolen,, will dvl give me a plate,, or do i need to jump thru other hoops.??? thanks. john

  9. when did the 4T start from.. what year, an can someone let me know what Trials bikes have the 4T engine, so if I have to look fur something else.. I`l know what tae look fur... how many in the range of Scorpas etc, an whats the models. ? if ye`s can...alyou diehard trials buffs out there wi Mega post counts....cheers

  10. cheers Fur That willie......... can you if possible or anyone else fur that matter tell me what makes do 4 strokes... i have the chance of a scorpa 125, and a 143 scorpa, fur around the grand mark... ive watched a few vids on the 125, ann it seems ok,, so maybe as ye say the 143 wid be jist that wee bit better..I know its in the skill.. an in trials Power isnt everything,, am not new to the sport,,, ave had a few trilas bikes.. an am not afraid tae tackle anything... but really a thought ma 1500 wid get me a good yin.. eh!!!

I was reading those posts there,, an had a few wee laughs.. jist around 3 or 4 posts up from this one,, a guy said... the best van on th eroad is a Transit,,, i fell off ma coputer chair laughin... I have like the guy before me,, a T4 vw... ave had around 6 off them 2x 2.4`s an a always said,, if ye kin get a good 2.4 keep it,, but then i had 3 2.5 tdi`s 103`s.. great vans,, would take another in the drap o a torn bonnet... am currently on a 1.9tdi... its a good workhorse,, but I say BUT,, its lackin in the Horses... but still good... I dont want breath takin speed fae a van.. if a was ad buy a 170 VWT4 or T5.. but jist now am nursing a 99 1.9 tdi wi 68 horse around,, an really its fine... its a lot less hassel than a 2.5, but wi a 2.5 theres ample speed an power... i can put two trials bikes an gear in the back comfortable... or one,, an me lying aside it.. as fur reliability.. a would`nt go anywhere else than a VW T4. JOhn

  13. Given both Brian Higgins and John Collins' knowledge and experience as both being riders and long serving officials, this can only be good for the sport of motorcycling.

    I think it only natural that motorcycle competition is governed by people that have a true interest in bike competition. As for recreational "biking" and control of illegal off-road riding, that would be better served by others (IMHO).

Hi Guys,, Merry Christmas tae ye`s all...I havent had many posts on here, but always look in now an again,, but im gettin ma sel ready to be on here a whole lot.. i want a trials bike... i have always been a 4stroke buff, although in times past ave had a climber,, a couple o 270 beta`s an an old Gas gas.. i have had as well 2 TLR250`s,, wish ad have kept them... the price o them is unbelievable...

    sayin all that, i havent been on a Trials bike fur a few years, but I just know ive still got it in me, an ave still the bug.. am 52,,, an hittin 20 stone,,, 6`5", am tall, an ye cant see ma belly,, but i assure ye`s its there... but am looking fur tae get maself a Trials,, an as i said I like the 4Strokes, an what comes to mind is the Scorpa sy250.. can anyone tell me if the sy125, with the 143cc engine is capable o pullin me... Id say when warmed up my ability to do trials is amature, or maybe a bit better,,, Ive had many many on Road Trail bikes....an I mean MANY.. but as ye`s know the trials world is a different world all the gither.

    so shopuld I hang out fur a nice 250 an i`d prefer a Road reg one... or as ave the chance of a 143cc one,,, will that do the same job.?? an do you think it will suit me.. ma height weight an age....sayin that dont let the age fool ye... I know how tae Handle off road bikes,, an on road well....

    so Please I`m looking forward tae anyones opinion of my requests.. 143 cc or hang out fur the 250,, whats the difference in POWER. Torque,? if ad enough money,, id bend oer backwards fur a Sy250 T ride... now thats wit a like.. but ad also like a long tank range one.. but in all fussyness if that is even a word, any will do,, as long as it can pull ma weight.. if ye know of any, please let me know an PM me is theirt a for sale section here... i have 1500 to spend.... so roll them up, an keep them commin.... well any ?. cheers. john
