  1. First batch of nuts and bolts, exhaust & radiator spacer rubbers and gromits as the ones on my exhaust/radiator have split. Tip for anyone who is replacing the grommit that goes on the exhaust as they are about £6 from beta and i got this box for the same price off ebay. Iridium spark plug to keep her running sweet. I have another big batch of stuff coming soon. My range of putoline products: Air filter cleaner/Oil Chain Oil Carberetta Cleaner Coolant Gear Oil 2 Stroke Oil My Next stage was to spruce up the engine as it was quite scratched and tatty. After a couple of hours sanding and a respray using matt black heat paint and it looks loads better. I also decided to polish up the bolts used on the clutch cover/water pump etc. Gave the sumpguard and rubber and the back wheel and sprocket a clean up too. I will get a new chain and sprockets at some point, but this will do for now. I also cleaned up the kick stand Now Clean

    Beta Evo Project

Here is my new project/hobbie to keep me busy with. I have been using my mates bikes when ive been doing trials recently. He has a 125cc gasgas and a 200cc beta evo. I have been looking at a few bikes, but most were in need of a lot of work so i uped my budget and purchased one this saturday (17th December), its a 2009 beta evo 250cc. It is in really good condtion as it should be only being a few year old. My plans are to give it a good clean up and service. Im also planning a few different modifications for it to. I know its a trial bike and its going to get scratched but that still doesnt mean i cant make it look nice. Here is my first update on the trials bike. I have been working on it a lot lately. I descoverd that it had a crack in the frame which wasnt good news for me when I had only just bought it. I did some research into it on the internet and i discovered that this was a common problem for this model of year and there was some warranty with the frame. A phone call and a few emails to Beta themselves and I had a new frame sorted which was brillant news as these frames are not cheap, and it also came with brand new head stock bearings so it was win win for me. Would like to also say a big thanks to Beta themselves for sorting this out for me. The only problem is that i have to strip everything off my old frame and rebuild it all , so i used this opportunity to clean the bike up and replace parts where needed. Here is a picture of the crack. Next was to start stripping the bike down so i did it a bit at a time and there was a few bolts that had buggrd heads, but i go them all out in the end. I removed the dog bone as they call it that connects to the swinging arm and the suspension as this unit holds all the bearing and bushes. You are supposed to regrease them every 40 hours to stop where and tear, but it looks like mine hadn't been done in a whiles so a few of the cages broke away in my hand. A job that should have taken 5 mins is going to take ages. Next day was ordering some new bushes and bearings and me being me i thought i would replace them all and do a proper job and would only cost a few quid, nope over a £100 lighter for the dam things. While the dog bone was off i decided to polish it all up with autosol and give it a nice shine and also cleaned up the suspension. The bike semi stripped down Now nice and clean Suspension While i was dismantaling I notcied a few bolts and other stuff missing that wasnt really needed or affecting the bike in anyway what so ever, but were there when bought new out of the factory so i decided to order it all, another £50 well spent. The mesh was coming away from the petrol tank plastic so i decided to tiger seal it back down. Few more bits cleaned up but still loads more to come The frame is all stripped away from the bike now. Right i got my new frame back so while it was all new i decided to get the frame and swinging arm powder coated a satin black with a bit of a rough finish. This is it all back from the powdercoaters
  4. Yeah the two o rings are there so just these to replace. What type of silicone should i use as i only have tiger seal.

    Beta evo exhaust

Hey all, ive just stripped my beta evo to get all the frame powdercoated and just in the process of rebuilding it all. Do i have to put any exhaust paste on the bit wheres it joins in the middle as it looks like its had something on in the past. I will get a project thread up soon when i get the time so you can all see what ive been doing.
  6. Thanks for the reply back dave and the offer of the powder but i will still get it done at the one near me as he has my frame and has started working on the bits. I just gave him a ring today to change from smooth to a more rough finish so cheers for letting me know in time before i got it smooth. I will keep you in mind for future reference if i need to get any other bits done.
  7. Hey all, i had cracks in my beta evo frame in the weld so beta themseles have exchanged it for me which is very kind of them for doing that for me, so since the frame is nice and clean and all stripped ive taken it to the powdercoaters and having it done at somepoint this week. I went for a satin black smooth finsh and was just wanting to double check ive gone for the right colour and also the right texture as it looks like some of the bikes on internet arent smooth from what i can see, but i could be wrong, im also getting the swinging arm done the same colour too since its already off.
  8. Sorry to hijack the thread but what about changing the top & bottom shock bearing/bushes. Is the worth doing?
  9. Thanks for the links guys and comments. What stuff could you hide if you had something to hide as they wont take long to lift up if needed be, only reason i want them is looks tbh and if they stop a bit of dirt then that wouldnt go a miss.
  10. Just wondering if anyone can point me into the right direction, but im looking to get the dust/mud covers that go over the front shocks and the type im after is like the wet suits material stuff as i know you can get rubber ones. Is the stuff a universal size or do they make the for diffrent bikes?
  11. I wouldnt worry about being 6'2" i know a few people that are taller 6'4" 6'5" and still have plenty of room. There is also little things you can do like lower the seats, remove the head rest, as little thigs like this make a big difference. Theres a few on here http://www.vx220.org.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/99554-am-i-too-tall/
  12. Yeah fine to post, just didnt want to lose your replys in the thread as theres only a couple of pictures for them to hide
  13. No not married but i have a girlfriend thats been at the start of my project and has also bought parts for the car. She loves it just as much as me
  14. Thanks for the reply and sounds like im going to be having some fun doing this
  15. No from England near York. I dont mind spending the money on the right parts, just
  16. Early Chirstmas present for the vx Cant wait to get it fitted Picture of my elise parts toe link kit Also got some steering raisers I also got my fuel rail powdercoated satin black and it now looks the part. I fitted my toe link on the weekend which was a lot easier then i thought it was. Its all coming along nicely with the orange theme now, just need to get the arb fitted then get the tyres, geo and tracking sorted then its ready for next year New bolts for the front and rear calipers along with some corrosion grease. and thats where im upto now.
  17. So then i decied to get them all shot blasted again and powdercoated up with this military graded powdercoat which is the bee knees in strength and i must admit it looks strong. I also fancied doing them a diffrent colour than the black that most people have gone with so i went with orange This was done within a couple of days, but by this time my dad had left so i had the joys of fitting it all up myself :beat: Also you can see my toe links and fuel rail powdered coated I then started fitting the parts back up and my first thing was to get all the bushes put into the wishbones which wasnt that hard of a job and a few phone calls to cliffie (thanks mate for helping me out ) got them all fitted in. I then started putting the wishbones back into the car with the new bolts and i must say those dam castor washers are a real pain to get in and a few times i could of kicked the car but persistance got me there in the end (also no superglue was used) Now a few shots of it all fitted up and just a few teething problems to sort out but nothing major. I also ran out of time and didnt get chance to fit my toelink kit but i will fit this when i get chance also along with my ARB. Just another quick update with a few new things that i took delivery of today was my yokohama a048 tyres and also a brake light as mine stopped working.
  18. Forgot to take pictures of the abs brackets and p-clips When i did start doing the job with my dad it looked like all of this wasnt that hard a task and it only took us a day and a half to take off. Once it was off we boxed it all up into sepertate boxes so all the parts didnt get jumbled up. I then took it to my mate to get shot blasted and then sprayed up gloss black, i must admit he made a mint job and they looked class. The problems started however when i tried to fit the balljoints and the paint hadnt fully dried and it was leaving finger marks and flaking off. I only had a week to get it all sorted as my dad came up to help me out and we were running out of time. With the free time i had that week while the stuff was getting painted as i took a week off work to get it all done i cleaned up all the wheel arches and chassis and spray painted the driveshaft and track rods and another coat on my discs.
  19. Heres a few pictures with it all fitted after a good clean and wax. Toe link kit ready for the suspension refresh that im planning. Update My car is off to courtenay sport tomorrow for the remap, this week i have been spraying my spare fuel rail to match my charger with heat paint. Also got the last thing i need for the supercharger build which is a set of brand new vxr injectors. Also received my wish bone bushes from cliffie and would like to say thanks to chris for sorting the delivery out on them. I went for the super pro bushes as all ive heard is good stuff about them. Up date My next big task was to do a suspension refresh and what was involved in doing this was to get the old wish bones and uprights etc all powdercoated and then replaced with all new shiny parts which was Gaz golds, super pro bushes, ball joints, track rods, drop links, elise parts toe link kit, HCB, bolts and nuts, abs brakcets shims, p-clips for the pipes. Pictures of the parts i used again Sorry i forgot to take pictures of the balljoints
  20. I then decided to paint my discs, The disc at the start looking crap. I took them off, cleand all the rust off and then sprayed them in a high temp paint. After they were finished and fitted to the car and the difference is just brillant and complement the wheels so much better now. I also bought some new spigots, disc retaining screws and a set of bosch 90% brighter dip beam bulbs from halfords. I also want to say a big thanks s-express who sorted me out an anti-rattle brake spring as i snapped mine when fitting the new pads. Theses where all ftted while the wheels were off Right this job has been ongoing for a while and its finally done and its a job that i wouldnt like to do a again, The first thing to do is to rip the old vent off and this was the hard bit to watch but after its done this is what your left with. Next thing for me was to smooth the area in and then prime and spray it black so when looking through the vent you cant see the white body work. I then took the turbo vents and mirrors to my local spray garage and got them the same colour as my spoiler; here is a couple of pictures of them back from the body shop. Then the next process was to stick them on using tiger seal, this job was a pain in the a*** to do but i got there in the end. They look mint fitted and also serve a purpose, to let cold air into the engine. The new engine oil is fitted along with a new oil filter and rings. I also got my new plates. Update on getting new suspension fitted. I bought some gaz gold pros and some new bolts from JG for the suspenion and also ready for the suspenion building im planing and i also want to thank chris for help in fitting the suspension thumbsup A couple pictures of the suspension
  21. Update of wheres it at now. My story, I drove down after work on Friday( in my girlfriend's car which she drove back) to pick it up from lees house which is a canny treck from mine but i was that excited that the journey seem to go quite quick. I got there around 8.00 to see it sitting on the drive with the engine cover open and the sc just smiling at me. Had a little chat with lee about driving it back on the way home as the new engine had to be going through gears as much as i can as it wasn't good to sit in the same gear for a while. Then lee offered to take me out in his car and all i can say is its fooking quick and its what I've got to look forward to when its all run in and then mapped by courtenay sport but thanks again lee for taking me out. On the way back people must of thought i was a right tit as i was driving like a yo yo as i was up through gears down to first on the a1 (lucky it was dark at this point and not too many cars on the road) but i wanted to make sure that i did a proper job of running it in. I have now changed the oil and filter for another 5 litres of millers running in oil which then will be changed for the fully synthetic oil when fully run in. I must say that the car sounds amazing and the whine off the sc is such a gorgeous sounds. Here is the latest picture of what it looks like now as i haven't got any pictures just yet, but don't worry I'm sure there will be more to come, theres no header tank in the picture but dont worry there is one fitted 5 litres of Millers CRO running in oil and 6 litres of Millers CFS fully synthetic oil 10W50 and 2 new oil filters I also bought a sticker which I couldn't help myself, once it was fitted my girlfriend removed her clothes but thats another story/picture Brakes update. My MOT is due Tuesday and i knew my brakes where in need of replacing so i bought everything needed ready to be fitted tomorrow hopefully. Grooved and drilled disc with mintex 1144 pads all round, please dont say i should have got the standard disc as i know this has been covered many times before and for the extra money it was worth it for the looks. AP Caliper Plate & Pins 10.9 Hub Carrier Bolts 1.5 Liters Of Gulf Competition RF1000 Racing Brake Fluid Braided HEL Performance Brakeline Kit I will update this when the brakes are run in. I think i am going to go for Carbone Lorraine RC5+ when i get some more money together as im not sure if mintex pads will cope with the 300bhp im hoping for but we will see how it gets on. Right i thought i better upadte this as i haven't done anything on it for a while now. First thing is an update of the brakes as they are all run in and all i can say is what an amazing diffrence over standard and also a big thanks to chris for the helpig of it disc and hoses and the car flew through the mot. A few pictures of them fitted..
  22. Start of the supercharger build, Engine is now out and "4.17" gear box is fitted.
  23. My new shiny 3 inch Chris Tullet exhaust system arrived today and i was like a little kid at Christmas oping it Would like to say a big thank you to my girlfriend as she bought this for my birthday present. Also got my uprated clutch, hydraulic slave cylinder and fuel pump from Courtney sport also and would like thanks again for a top notch service.
  24. Another update and that one step closer to getting the car sc'd I've got some new smoked indicators off ebay to go with the look im after. I also received my softop liner off vauxhaul thanks again for the quick delivery, my new oem fuel filter off autovaux Dimple magnetic sump plug to help catch the crap for when the internals get fitted. Magma exhaust wrap and there stainless steel locking cable ties from thermal velocity 5 liters of ready mixed coolant from halfords 5 liters of Millers CRO running in oil and x2 1 liters of Millers CRX gear box oil Nimbus heat shield. Also iv received my original turbo vents with the mesh inserts, cant wait to get these fitted now. I will also be selling my copy turbo vents and brand new mesh inserts.
