  1. If you need help with the 158 contact me, I have one and live in Townsville, happy to assist.
  2. Are the wheels any different to a 158?

    Thanks

    First ride in the wild.
  4. I have a Bultaco 158. I would like to reduce the amount of oil I use as the bike produces copious amounts of smoke and gunk, However 25:1 is what the manufacturer recommended using mineral 2 stroke oil. I am using Valvoline racing 2 stoke at 25:1 at the moment. I intend using the bike for a mix of trials and trail riding. What do you recommend? I also run a Metralla MK2 on the same brew, constant high speeds.

Sorry I didn't look too closely at the background, I thought my DS helmet must have been in shot. The straw hat is probably more protective up here in North Queensland where the chance of melanoma is real risk than a motorcycle helmet anyway.

Hi Originally I did it because I wanted someting to ride on short local historic events but then I decided that if it proves as reliable as my original 158 than it will see some trail riding where my Vstrom won't go. If I can find a twin shock comp up here in North Queensland I just might get back into it again. I sold my TY175 before moving up here, there just wasn't room for it. My next task is getting it past the safety certificate/rego inspection. Then if all goes well I may actually repaint the frame and tank to make it pretty. At the moment it is original apart from the new paint on the swingarm.

    Thanks

The Helmet goes with my Vstrom, it doesn't go with my Metralla either. The only part that was repainted was the swingarm, as you can see the paint on the tank is pretty stuffed, but I'll wait until I've done some rides on it before I lash out on new paint and decals, it's sort of nice having it basically all original except for the swingarm ( it was almost devoid of paint and looked terrible.

  9. The Alta Suzuki was produced by two welshmen, one of whom now lives in Warwick, Australia and is a personal friend of mine. He has one complete bike in his shed and another in pieces. John also worked for Rickman welding frames. He is a really skilled tradesman and went into boats eventually and helped build boats for the Americas Cup Challenge. (kookaburra two) He is currently helping me with my Bultacos, Metralla and Sherpa 158. His partner in the Alto went on to produce Ford GT replicas. John is a wealth of information on bikes boats etc but is a very quiet person. He currently rides a Hyosung Comet very fast around windy roads often upsetting the blokes on bigger more powerful bikes. Talking to him last night he is dusting off his Alta with a view to getting on the trail again.
  10. Hi I'm a neewbie to this forum. I have a Sherpa 158 that has seen very little use, it was in storage for many years. Still has original tyres but they're badly perished. This is the 2nd 158 I've owned my original bike was two engine numbers older than this one. I also have a Metralla MK2 that I purchased new in 1974. I intend doing some off road exploring when I get the Sherpa back on the road. I'm too old for a modern enduro bike and the Bully should suit my needs perfectly. I'm currently after a wiring diagram if anyone can help.
  11. I am currently getting my 158 ready for registration and need a copy of the wiring diagram for this model. I have others that are similar but not the same. I assume the 159 wwould be the same. If anyone has one that they can email me I would really appreciate it. Regards Drew
