  1. Hi

I'm having some bother with the fan on my 2012 sherco 125.

The bike will start and run however the fan and front light will not come on, i have replaced the fan rectifier but still no luck, the fan works fine when i wired it up to a battery.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

  2. I'm thinking of re-painting the clutch cover, water pump cover and cylinder head on my 2012 sherco as some of the paint has chipped and worn and doesnt look good. What paint do you reccomend i use to give the most hard wearing finish possible? enamel? powder coating? any other paints?

    Thanks.

  3. Hi all,

Just stripping down my 2012 sherco 125 to rebuild it and i've got to the swingarm but i cant remove the swingarm pivot bolt, ive managed to get it rotationg slightly however i still cannot knock it out. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  4. Thinking of building a bit of a custom trailer with mini lite alloys and checker plate etc...

Im just not too keen on having to compress the forks and suspension when strapping it down, anyone got any alternatives? Also any other things you think might be good to add?

    Thanks.

  5. For the front mudguard 'rubber flap' I marked points on the mudguard where to drill holes and then I used 2, short panhead machine screws and 2 large'ish' washers, tightened up with 2 nuts on the inside of the mudguard, simple

  6. My sumpguard on my sherco is pretty bent and i was wondering if i could straighten it somehow to get a bit more life out of it before i buy a thicker 2013 sump guard? Or are there any cheaper/stronger alternatives to a sherco one? thanks. Its a 125 2012

  7. High comp heads will improve low end power, They make the bike more snappy and improve low end grunt. They will aid performance well in the summer when the air is hotter and less dense or if you ride at high altitudes.

The down sides are that they can make the bike run slightly hotter and they can slightly reduce revs at the top end but only in extreme high revs.

I have run high comp heads on my Gas Gas 300 and the Sherco 300 both bikes had boyesen carbon reeds and keihin carb and made a big difference in performance.

In summer I would reccomend fitting the CSP waterpump kit to keep the temps cooler.

They are simpole to fit also.

There is a Very high comp insert on the auction site at the moment for a fiver, well worth a punt to experiment with.

Okay thanks! Think i might invest in one then, also would i need to take the whole clutch casing off to fit the waterpump or not?

  8. Hi, The pipe will give slightly better response but my bike is a 300 with high compresion and a ported barrel plus other factory mods.

On a standard bike it will not make much difference unless your old pipe is dented or coked up.

I only changed it because my old pipe had an argument with a rock, Still cleaned the section though!!

The water pump cover is painted candy red over a silver base. It looks almost like anozised, The picture doesnt do it much justice.

I do custom paint in my bodyshop. It's not as hard wearing as anodising but it's free for me so happy days.

    Okay thanks

  9. High comp insert will work wonders.

Regarding the bash plate, You could make up some alloy spacer blocks. About 3-4mm should do and space the plate lower at the rear frame mounts. All you need is some alloy plater, longer bolts, a drill and a hacksaw. You may need a thin strip of rubber to go under the existing rubber one to keep it tight.

Lowering the plate will keep it away from the cases more and keep them safer. A £4 mod can save a £500 repair.

    Thanks very much! great help!

Check these out. The titanium pipes are easily crushed and will crack on the sherco due to the position of the bends.

I brought the Inox pipe as it is lighter than stock, still has a conical section to help power and stronger.

It also turns a nice gold colour when you get it hot for the 1st time.

The Ti pipes do look cool but are fragile and expensive way to save very little weight.

Also, where did you get the red water pump cover? Thanks.

So do they give more power?

  12. I own a sherco 125 2012 model and when i roll the bike backwards, the chain links catch on the frame near the footpeg, this is very annoying as it keeps on pushing the split link clip off and this could lead to some serious damage!, any ideas?

All help is much appreciated, thanks.

  13. i have had the petrol tank off, thinking i could get to the radiator filler cap but no chance, i can see the cap but it is under the frame and if i could get my fingers in i don't think i could poor water into it, i need to check it to see if their is antifreeze in it and check the level.

    regards

    Tony

Hi, take the petrol tank off and use a flatblade screwdriver to push on the ribs of the filler cap to unscrew it, to fill up, i used a small funnel with a piecwe of rubber hose/tube on the end of it.

    hope this will help!

  14. Splatshop has anything you will need, yet unless you are bashing major rocks I doubt you will need thicker bashplate.

They do sell plastic covers for frame, fork, muff and gas tank which are recco for all good bashers!

Thanks, but the sumpguard already on it is bent and its pushing the rubber up against the clutch casing.

  15. Has anybody got any modifications/improvements on their 2012 sherco that they would like to share?

I'm a 15 year old clubman rider and I've recently got a 2012 125cc sherco of which I am very impressed by after having a 2008 model,

The bike already has a keihn carb and titanium footpegs on it, I'm running a 9-48t sprocket ratio, what other modifications are there that may further improve the bike both performance-wise and cosmetically and also reduce the weight, even though it is light enough already haha.

Also could anyone point me in the right direction as to where I can get a 2013 model thicker sumpguard?

    Thanks in advance.
