  5. I recently got hold of two Cub/Bantam hubs to widen, and then flog the spare online to recover some of my outlay. I followed the info on the excellent BSA otter site and I'm very pleased with the results. However, I hadn't noticed before, but the two hubs are different lengths - after adding 38mm/1.5" to them both, I now have one 6 inches long, and one 6 3/8 long. I plan on fitting one to my royal enfield crusader which has plenty of room in the swing arm, to lose the weight of the standard brake drum and combined sprocket, and also because cub sprockets are plentiful and have a greater off the shelf choice, plus easier to change. So my question is which one would be best to sell - long or short?
  6. Thanks for the info, I've just sent off for a brake cable. Looking at pictures on the web I realise I don't have the bracket that mounts the cable to the mudguard stay, so I will have to fabricate something.
  7. I hope this is the picture of the forks mentioned above,

  9. Hi all. I have a set of forks and front wheel on my bike from a Montesa Cota, and I need to identify them so I can get hold of a brake cable. They are 35mm and had the word "MONTESA" cast into the bottom of the alloy slider - not the "M" logo seen on some forks, and I think they were from the early 1970's. Is there any way of working out the year and model, or are all the brake cables interchangeable. I got them on ebay a while ago for my pre 65 project bike, so I have very little info. Also, how much and what type of oil goes in each leg. I can add I picture once I've worked out how............ All help, hints, tips and info will be much apreciated, Thank. Jon Summerfield.
  10. So what pistons are used to get to 400cc? And is the bottom end left alone - I know that to convert to 500 the 350 steel conrods need to be swapped for the alloy 500 items. and also 500 barrells and head. I need to get the motor re bored anyway, so if a 400cc jump just needs pistons and rebore, it sounds like an easy and cost effective way of getting a bit more grunt with minimum outlay. 11. Hi everyone, I have recently got hold of a triumph 3TA twin engine basket case. This will eventualy be slotted into a royal enfield 250 crusader trials frame to make the popular TriField or Tri Enfield machine. Has anyone out there built one of these bikes, and if so what would be the best engine specification to go for - 350 or 500, There are a lot of tuning options from stock 350 to Daytona 500. etc Any info and advice greatly apreciated. Jon Summerfield.
