Well i've done a few trials on the 4rt and have to say what an amazing bike. To start off with I was finding it quite difficult but I was trying to ride it like my Gasser. Yesterday it seemed to click and oh what a feeling, just rolling on the power it was effortless, coming out of tight turns and climbing out over some quite steep but shortish banks with hardly any revs. Talk about grinning from ear to ear. I now know what you guys mean when you say it's very rewarding. I didn't win but it sure felt like I did. My one and only problem is I feel a little cramped, like i'm too close to the bars and stooping forward, makes the old arms and back ache a bit but apart from that what a fantastic bike, love it

Thanks guys, that jbanyeres is great, the stuff they have there, could easily get carried away buying stuff there. I'm a wally, I never thought about Pidcocks, you'd think that was the first place to spring to mind seeing I picked up my bike there 4 weeks ago..duh

Does anyone know where I can buy a montesa jacket for when winter is upon us, i've had a good look around and can't seem to find anything

Cheers jj that's good to know, I was getting a bit worried there. It's a relief to hear that you put more oil in than is said, I put in the amount in the manual and it wasn't enough, thought I had a problem, phew
-
Bit of a silly question but i'd rather ask to be sure. I've just done my first service on the 4RT, oils and filter, when I put the new oil in I kicked the bike over slowly to get the oil around then started it, let it run for a minute then turned it off. When I checked the dipstick it was virtually dry and took about 10 minutes for the level to start to rise. Is this normal, does it take some time for the oil to get back to the sump or is something not right. I'm very paranoid about oil levels and automatically start to presume i've put something back wrong, filter or something, even though i triple check things as I go I start to question myself after.

Cheers for that jj, I see your point about taking it off, if it's not a problem getting it back on then off it is

Hi all, just a quick question, do I need to take off the sump guard on my 4rt to change the oil & filter or can this be done with it still in place?
-
I do Apologise gii, after re-reading the manual (properly) I realise it's the drain bolt @16 and not the crankcase bolts
-
Fair enough, I'm trying to help, not look for an argument,
Niether am I, to be honest I thought 16lb was rather high and while I was tightening up mine I was sweating a bit
-
Picked up my new 4RT on Friday and put on a case saver and my manual definitely says to torque crank case bolts to 16 lbs/ft

Thanks guys, had a word with the dealer today about the fan and he said it's nothing to worry about as they do run hot but will settle down when it's run in, i'm still not convinced so will definitely be keeping an eye on it

Hi all, just been out for my first ride on the 4rt and what a totally amazing bike. I thought it was going to take me ages to get used to it after my Gas Gas but within 20 minutes it felt like i'd had it for years. One question I do have though is when the bike warmed up and the fan kicked in, it didn't stop running until I turned the engine off, is this normall or something I should look into. One thing I will say to anybody who is thinking about getting a 4rt and like me was told by many people that they don't grip, well I can tell you now they grip just as well as my gasser did if not better, in fact I had more trouble keeping the front wheel on the ground

Thanks guys for the info, it's those sorts of tips you can only find out from people that own the bikes. I picked up a case saver when I got the bike, thought that would definitely be a good investment. One other question i'd like to ask, I know there are a few topics on suspension but i'm not really that switched on when it comes to "sag" I am a tall skinny sod (6ft and 10 stone) and prefer a soft rear end but to be honest I don't really know what i'm doing when it comes to adjusting the spring so any help would again be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi all, today I have at last picked up my first 4RT after a long long time of wanting one and have to say what a beautiful beast she is. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice on running the bike in, how long before I change the oil (s), filter etc and general advice for keeping the bike tip top.
Many thanks
