  1. I'm viewing a 2010 300 pro gasser to possibly buy. What should I look for in terms of problems areas? Are their any common issues? Thanks for any info
  2. Turns out the my and all 2004 290s had a sachs shock which i was able to get rebuilt. Mark at Race Suspension Services sorted it for me. New seal, bush and fitted a valve to allow regassing. It can now be rebuilt any time from now on. Very reasonably priced too. And it's working a treat.
  3. I've a 2004 290. Looking to get the shock serviced as it doesn't have much damping. Is this rebuildable? Which shock is it? Olle or Sachs?

    125 Clutch Fluid

Well in my attempt to cure the drag issue, (which I now realise is just a gas gas pro quirk) I replaced master cyl piston and seals, slave cyl o-ring and seal, new clutch plates set to spec, minor marks on clutch basket polished and sliding faces on new fiber plates polished too. Atf dex 3 oil used. Slight improvement but far from the point of being able to select neutral whilst sitting still. Just have to make do lol

    125 Clutch Fluid

Thanks for the replies fellas. Wonder what Gas Gas's idea was when going away from the traditional design of clutch assembly? Anyway I'll have to pull the cover off and measure the specs and adjust accordingly. She was out yesterday on the bike and as it got up to temp the issue wasn't as bad, but it still makes finding neutral whilst standing still a hassle. I want it to be as easy as possible as it would be one thing less to worry about for a beginner. I'll report back my findings. One other thing what's your thoughts on DP and sureflex clutch kits? If there's doubt over the plates I might change them and start from fresh then I know where I an at with that part of the system. I believe the DP kits don't like ATF . I can't be sure what type of clutch plates or oil the previous owners might have had in there. The sureflex seems to come with extra steels to allow for adjustment which can only be a good thing and aren't fussy on oil type

    125 Clutch Fluid

Hi Bought the missus a 2002 125 txt pro last weekend. I want to bleed the clutch to try and improve a clutch drag niggle. The cap on the clutch master cyl is green and says mineral oil on it. But being an 02 std would have been brake fluid. What fluid should I go with? Or what's the worst can happen if I use 'wrong' fluid? Thanks
  7. I'm in the same boat od10. Had my sherco bout 4 months and have done 3 competitions . 2 Irish champs and an ulster champs round last sat. Myself and 2 mates have taken it up and were all havin a blast. Can't wait for the weekend to arrive to get out to compete or practice. Coming off the back of years of motocross, I'd never have thought I'd have enjoyed the trials as much. But it's a challenge. And the craic is mighty. Is it Saturday yet? Lol

    Bike Cutting Out

what way did the bike cut out? just die instantly like a possible electrical fault or sort of burble and linger before dieing? Simplest things to check 1st is that your fuel tank cap is venting correctly and not creating an airlock and the fuel tap filter isnt blocked up. Could be fuel starvation? Full carb clean could be a good start too. Check the float height and valve isnt sticking.

    04 290 Loading Up

Hi all Ive had my 04 290 for couple months and after a few weeks practice did my 1st competition today. Mightey craic. Loved it. Though today on the slower competition sections the bikes been loading up and needed a good handful of revs to clear it out the odd time. Had to do this before each section today or the bike would choke up and chug out the smoke just when I'd need it to be sharp on the throttle. Fuel mix is 65ml/5l petrol ipone s2 . Pulled the carb tonight and jets are 34 pilot 126 main and the needle clips was on the bottom groove. Ive moved the clip to the 3rd from Top groove now to lean er out a bit. Plug is currently a br7es which I now realise is completely wrong. I should have checked the plug 1st and I realise it's running with far too cold a plug so I've ordered a couple of br5 plugs which I think will make a huge difference to the loading up issue. Bike starts 1st kick when cold but was reluctant a couple of times today when hot even after running fine and being stopped on the kill button whilst waiting my turn at a section. Almost like it had a fouled plug but never actually fouled a plug. I think I'm In the right ballpark with regards jets sizes aren't I. Riding here in northern Ireland not high altitude or anything. Thanks
