    Sherco 290

Hi All, Has anyone had any problems with the water pump on the Sherco 290 motor? I have a Sherco x-ride which runs this motor. On a recent long distance trial the water pump impeller separated from the water pump on a road section and it all went down hill from there. Looking at a new piston and barrel, plus water pump and bits. Motor had done around 3000 miles and was otherwise sound. Interested to know if this is a common problem and if there are any fixes. Thanks in advance. Kev
  2. Thanks for all the replies chaps, I checked the seating and all is fine then had a nother run out today on the road and some trails. I have settled at 14psi which is ok on the road, the front no longer tries to tuck in all the time, and acceptable on the trails. I am just surprised that a trials tyre handles worse than a half worn knobly. Thanks again. Kev
  3. I run my Montesa MH fitted with an IRC at 4/5 psi with no issues also but on the trail bike the handling is just awful, even at low speeds. No idea why?
  4. Hi, I have just fitted a Michelin Comp front trials tyre to my AJP Trail bike, for the March Hare event next weekend. I tried 10psi on the first ride and wobbled round the first corner like a wounded buffalo, it was awful. I am now going to try 14psi in the hope that the road manners improve, this seems much to hard for trail use however. Is this handling trait normal with this tyre? Cheers Kev
  5. Hi All, Any opinions on Hebo Eco trials boots? I currently have an old pair of Forma Boulders and want to replace them with something with a little more support for competing in Long Distance Trials and some light green laning. Thinking that the Hebo's look up to the job? Thanks Kev
  6. Rob, Yes I do ride other bikes, I have a Husky which I trail ride and have done a few three stage trials on, that's what got me interested in a trials bike. So a fair bit of experience but just not on a trials machine. Good point about the slow throttle, thanks. Kev
  7. I have seen a Sherco 290 for sale locally at a reasonable price but am wondering if it might be little too much for a novice or indeed someone who has never ridden trials bike before! Any thoughts please. Kev
  8. Hi All, I am currently greenlaning a 250 4t enduro bike and am looking to do try something a little more challenging ( don't want to ride enduro's as enjoy the low speed stuff more) so am thinking of trying some trials riding. Ideally I would like to find a bike that could be used for both disciplines but this may be a big ask! I am quite tall 6' 1" and would like a nice light bike. Any ideas or thoughts. I have seen the Scorpa T ride / Sherco X ride, these look great, any thoughts on them or even the Ossa Explorer? Many thanks Kev
