  1. Yes but.... Surfers at pro level look good. Great bodies. Fabulous sunny locations. Blue water, white sand. The power of nature on display. All in all an Aspirational show for teens and adults to watch. Speed also a factor. Also rules very simple to understand by general public. No compare with our sport.

Have to disagree. Sure sunny locations but decent waves generally coincide with crap weather. For me when it p****s down at the SSDT I am way more interested as it highlights the skill of the top riders. As for the rules it is like gymnastics they are judged. Two surfers doing three turns getting wildly different scores. It all comes down to marketing, trials does an incredibly bad job getting the message out. Compare the Erzberg Rodeo with any FIM trial or SSDT or Scott??

    Hi Stan,

Current owner thinks it was the scrambler version, he has the jampots, and the light was added. Not pristine but could be a fun bike to ride? He did mention that the oil once flooded the cylinder head, he did not realize there was an adjustment for that. He added a small brass valve in line to adjust the oil. Otherwise it has good compression and starts easily.

Am torn between this and a 65 Tiger cub. Decisions, decisions!

  3. Quick update.

I decided on the 250 and got the bike the day before Christmas :xmas: .

Firstly Lewisport were fantastic in every respect and I cant recommend Mandy and Adrian highly enough. Absolutely top notch!

Bike starts first kick every time. Grip is amazing and the power delivery is very smooth. I love the transmission as I always find the gear i am looking for.

Bike feels light and agile and the handling is awesome.

Overall build quality seems excellent and I am over the moon with the bike :guinness::D .

  4. Thanks 437, great write up. Certainley some food for thought regarding the 250 versus the 280 or 300. Bikes arriving from Spain on Saturday in California, so will get to feel them up next week.

  5. Here is my 2cents. Trials needs to embrace technology. Specifically the web for live broadcasts of the world rounds.

I just started riding trials after ear surgery, after 30 years of surfing. Surfing is and always will be a marginal sport, but the pro side of things was saved by doing live broadcasts from remote locations. Finally you could actually see how good these guys and gals were. Plus the motivation now existed to improve and surf like they did. It also showed how much fun surfing was to a non surfing public.

Likewise would'nt you watch live world rounds on the web, what about the Scott or SSDT? What if folks like Dougie Lampkin or Jordi Tarres commentated? As it stands a couple of clips from the world rounds exist and a few YouTube videos. There has to be a medium that shows how friggin awesome this is! Only then will the penny drop, new riders be bought into the fold and older ones kept in the fold.

Folks don't devour magazines like we did growing up, then having read the thing cover to cover 3 times, run outside and try to emulate our heroes. Bou, Raga, Lampkin, these guys are freaks and nobody knows about them because no one is getting the story across!

    Cheers

  6. Thanks Breagh for lowering your standards, heaven knows I have been doing that my whole life . I look forward to your thoughts.

Nice review gasgas249uk, You have been doing a great job selling me on the JTG, but there seems better support for the Ossa here in the states (Lewisport is fired up on them). This will be my first new bike so the comparison really helps.

    Thank you.
