Hi there! 🙂 I'm from Germany and will take part at the SSDT with a friend both as newbies. We got some information from another German rider who took part last year but it would be great to get some information from experienced SSDT riders. 😊 So first question at this point.. Is it possible to camp in a van at the paddock or close to the paddock? Thanks a lot in advance, mates! 🙂

Originally a reliability trial, one point for footing (on hill sections) was introduced in 1931. Does anyone know when a contemporary scoring system was introduced and when the emphasis on reliability was dropped?

Am I missing something about TC. I cannot find any 2022 world trials results or SSDT daily results on Trials Central. Yes I'm old and past it these days but why has it all got so difficult. If I go into the SSDT website all they have is up to 2019 results and yes I do know there has been a pandemic happening for the last two years. Can anyone put me on the right track for the SSDT results at least please. TIA

Morning All. Currently looking for a New Bike - Defiantly going to be a Beta. The 2 main events i will be riding this year will be the SSDT and MANX 2 day. What would people proffered choice be for these events. Standard Evo with a Ohlins upgrade or a Factory Evo? Any thoughts gratefully received..... Thanks Dan

SSDT & Pre65. Corona virus strikes another major event.?

Planning this year’s trip to the Scottish and looks like I am going to have to bring the dog. I’m pretty sure there’s a couple of groups that are no dogs allowed (Fersit?) but wanted to know if the majority of spectator groups are dog on a lead friendly? Thanks Dave

Many will be aware that Trials Central has provided and operated the official website for the Scottish Six Days Trial since 2015. By mutual agreement with the organising Club, that arrangement has now come to an end. The Club were keen to take the site back in-house and, for me it was an awful lot of work with SSDT week itself being a non-stop run of 16-hour minimum days. I don’t even do that kind of hours for the job that pays the mortgage! It had become an obligation more than something I enjoyed doing and when you stop enjoying something, it’s time to move on and do something else. Looking through the entry list for the SSDT the breakdown of bikes entered is as follows:- Beta 83; Gas Gas 52; Montesa 41; Sherco 31; Vertigo 27; TRS 22; Scorpa 21; Honda 3 and TBA 1. I don't know how this compares with previous years, but a healthy range of manufacturers represented. Isn't it funny the things you do when 'on hold' to British Gas?;

I have come up to spectate later in the week this year than usual (arrived today) and not only have they run out of kid’s T-shirts and hoodies I can’t track down any stickers. Seem to have all gone. My lad will be gutted if I can’t find one. Does anyone have a spare one I could have for a donation to a charity of their choice or a drink at the bar or something? Cheers Dave

An article that I've read says that a New Zealander rode in the Scottish in 1969. I'd like to find out who he was. Would anyone have the results for that year so I can try to identify him? Thanks Peter Christchurch, N.Z.

Started trials at 24 - so I’m only doing it for fun but I would like to compete some prestigious trials in a few years to come (been riding a year and a bit) i definitly want to have a go In the ssdt. Don’t really care if I come last as long as I finish;) what sort of a standard do I need to be riding at to comfortably finish the trial?? Is there any other trials that are a good indicator if I’m ready? Won’t be for at least another few years but it’s nice to have goals !!

I've done a fair bit of observing myself over the years, I appreciate how tough a job it can be. When I ride an event I'm always very grateful for the volunteers who give up their free time and stand out in all weather so that we can all enjoy a days sport. I know and appreciate that its difficult at times to stick to the stipulated rules. Especially in no stop events where a rider has put so much effort into completing a section which may have resulted in a brief pause. It can be difficult as an observer to make a judgement, that adheres strictly to the rules. I have been at the receiving end of being fived and cleaned for committing the exact same offence. Every year same old, same old with illegal riders following the course of the Pre 65 and published at the bottom of the results? These people are obviously not concerned about the future of both the Pre 65 or the SSDT. In some people’s minds it is like anything you are doing wrong you will continue to do it until you are caught, hence they continue and it will be the same next year. Publishing it year on year out falls on deaf ears and I have sympathy with the officials as they cannot man every bit of the course so what indeed is the solution to this ongoing problem to preserve both of the events?
