Can anyone tell me how common bike swapping is during the ssdt. Obviously against the rules I presume but not uncommon I'm lead to believe, anyone care to comment

Many congratulations to Dougie on his tenth outstanding success at what must be the worlds premier event. I'm sure that H Martin Lampkin would have been the proudest of fathers. Also great to see Jack Sheppard from Suffolk do so well to finish fourth.

Received this as a news article, but it's not really appropriate for the news section of the site so: I am looking for a lift home on Monday 2 from the last group of sections in the trial - presumably Lagnaha - to South Manchester or a railway station in Lancashire from where I can catch a trian to Stockport. Obviously I'll share the cost. If you can help, please phone me asap on 07928 171429, Mike Edwards.

Going to be arriving in the Kinlochleven area about midday on the Saturday. Will the trial still be going on then? If so where would be the best place to head? I have watched the 6 days many times but never managed to catch any of the pre65, so would like to see some if possible.

The time of the SSDT is looming and there is a lot of riders out there without an entry .riders that will try every section. How many riders that have an entry will ask for 5s without trying using it to save time and energy to get round this event and claiming they have completed the event. To me this is taking short cuts.

As with a lot of the bigger trials the entries are by ballot. Is everyone in the ballot? are there seeded riders? Who's in and who's out. As always all the well known names are on the first list. Imagine Lampkin or someone like on the reserve list and not getting in. Would this be possible? Is the system a fair one? I've no axe to grind, just something I've been thinking about. Who would know the answer? cheers Tom

I have been given a pewter tankard, found at a car boot sale, bearing the inscription: Scottish Six Days Trial 1949 Won by R.Clayton It has the usual "Haud Forrit" E+DMC logo. Can anyone shed a light on who R. Clayton was and what he won in 1949 (as I can see from the records that he was not the outright winner).

  15. Well, I just happened to be talking to my dad about the legend that is Eddie Lejeune and he said to me "one min" and walked out the room , he came back with 30 odd pictures that he took of the SSDT in 1982, up until now I had never seen any of these pictures ! What a numptey! Any way, for the past hour or so I have been scanning them in , so I can post them on here for people to see. If you can name any of the rider,or you are in one of the pictures , simply post the picture number and say who they are and I will then edit that name to be above the picture.. Lets see who has a good memory then shall we.. Thanks , Jamie. (1)could be the model 198B 250cc Bultaco…

After day 1 it looks well spread at the top of the leader board All to play for & looking at the weather forecast, it will play a major part, especially if the Becks are full What do the rest of you reckon? Any predictions ? Personally I'd like Doug to get one more

Cross-post from front page: To win the Scottish Six Days Trial is way beyond the imagination of all trials riders except for the very select few to whom it is just about possible. To actually win the trial is the achievement of a lifetime. To win the SSDT more than once comes to just the very few who are right at the top of their chosen sport, but to win the world famous Scottish classic NINE times is being downright greedy!! But that is what Dougie Lampkin achieved last week when he overcame a second day mini-disaster to stamp and confirm his long time authority on this trial and put his incredible record of victories firmly out of the reach of any other rider for de…

Hi, I have a question about the SSDT, as an enduro rider I have no problem with the between section going or endurance. My question is, how hard are the sections? I have ridden trials on and off since I was 17, now 50, I now ride trials, both twin shock and modern at clubman level, was expert level in my 20's. I don't mind a struggle. Are most sections ridable for an above average club rider? This trial is on my bucket list. Many thanks in advance Glenn
