He said it himself this morning in an Instagram post. I agree with your point, but I guess in terms of media coverage for the brand, the WTC will get more than the SSDT does. It's disappointing as the Gas Gas release about his signing indicated he's not riding British Championship either, electing instead to ride the Spanish Championship.

The (untestable) question is how much will his WTC ranking be improved by not riding the SSDT? It's a fact that the factories do not see the SSDT as a priority for their WTC riders, but a shame that one of the top British riders will not be in the event. February 1, 20179 yr Author It was pretty plain when Dibs signed for Gas Gas that the BTC was not in his contract. I was not surprised by the announcement as the SSDT does not seem to be on the factories radar at the moment

February 1, 20179 yr I don't think it's an unfair call for him not to ride the ssdt this year. As he says, it's the week before the first wtc round, and him staying in Spain throwing the bike at 8 ft steps has got to be more beneficial to him than all day in the driving rain riding, for him at least easy sections. I'm sure the factory have made their thoughts heard to him. They want him as the no 1 factory rider to give his best on the world stage, they after all, pay his wages!!
