  1. I have re-opened the TC events calendar, but all future events that were put in before it was closed have been deleted to avoid confusion. Clubs are now free to add events again.
  2. ACU & AMCA joint update on plans released here
  3. Before you get too excited, you can't block me ?
  4. Click on the settings menu, top right then Ignored Users. You can block people there.
  5. It's an interesting topic. Going by the stats TC hasn't got any quieter over the years in terms of traffic (It is down over the past couple of months due to lack of news, but that will bounce back). Scroll down to the bottom of the forums and you'll always see a large number of "lurkers". The main reasons TC has become very bike focused is partly down to a very knowledgable and helpful user base (for which I thank all contributors) and the work that the forum software providers have done in search engine optimisation. If you have a problem with your bike, do you go to Facebook? No. You go to Google with your problem and you will always find TC very near the top of the results, and more often than not the top result. It's the gap in the market that TC is filling very well. There is no other resource like it for Trials. There has been much debate about the place of forums in the world of anti-social media and there is absolutely a place for them. If you want arseholes, self-professed "experts" on every subject under the sun and pictures of people's cats, head for Facebook. If your topic is of a more important nature, use a forum. Interestingly, I did some research a few months ago as I was working with a charity that had abandoned their website and gone 100% Facebook. Only roughly 65% of people in the UK use Facebook so that was over a third of the potential donating public they were completely ignoring. The core Facebook platform is also in decline. They're clever at hiding that fact as they bundle WhatsApp and Instagram users into their published user counts and both of those Apps are still growing so it hides the decline in Facebook itself. The charity now has a website again and it's brought in a substantial amount of money since relaunch.
  6. I would say this is a better dashboard https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html BUT don't spend too much time looking at numbers or reading about it and especially limit antisocial media activity. If you start on all the bollocks on Twitter and Arsebook it can easily turn you into a gibbering wreck.
  7. Buy toilet roll. Lots of toilet roll.
  8. It was Becky Cook at a World round in France. Steps had to be taken to make sure the same thing didn't happen at the Women's TdN the following day...

    SSDT Website

Many will be aware that Trials Central has provided and operated the official website for the Scottish Six Days Trial since 2015. By mutual agreement with the organising Club, that arrangement has now come to an end. The Club were keen to take the site back in-house and, for me it was an awful lot of work with SSDT week itself being a non-stop run of 16-hour minimum days. I don’t even do that kind of hours for the job that pays the mortgage! It had become an obligation more than something I enjoyed doing and when you stop enjoying something, it’s time to move on and do something else. This is a totally amicable agreement and the Club have full access to everything on the current website to port over to the new one they are having built so none of the extensive historical information that’s been added over the past five years should be lost. I don't know when this new site will be up and running, but the current one will remain in place till then, it just won't be updated any more.

Dabill, Sadler, Dan Peace. Richardson fastest man. Jack Price missed a section. Just got results so will have them up shortly.
  14. There's a bug in the template. It's not a 2 minute fix though. Been on my to do list for too long so I'll switch back to the default template as I know that works.

    Forum upgrades

I've carried out some upgrades this morning. As part of this, everything is re-indexed which takes a fair bit of time. Until this is completed some elements (like classified ads) won't display properly or will throw up errors. This should be rectified in a couple of hours.
  16. Give people time. It's Sunday and for most that is riding day.

    Quali

I watched it once and Jake Miller screaming like a banshee making out it was a lot more exciting than it actually was put me off for life. ?
  18. Correct. There are no Facebook like/share buttons on TC, nor any links to Facebook due to their tracking policies.
  19. Really? According to the FIM Supplementary Regs the lap length for Netherlands was 1KM and for Belgium it was 5KM. Source of this requirement?
  20. It could just be a small company living within their means and not splashing cash they don't have. We've all seen where that leads. Media coverage/exposure is down compared to the last couple of years and Belgium is hardly a hotbed of Trials so why go to all the expense of attending when 1) Cabestany is bound to win it regardless and 2) It's a World Cup, not a World Championship so actually pretty meaningless.

    Future of Gasgas

Given that other marques of a similar or even smaller size survive just fine, it's pretty apparent this situation is down to gross mismanagement - again. The bigger issue, and one there may be no return from even if they sort the latest problems out, is consumer confidence. You can have the best product going, but if people are wary about the stability of the company, all but the most loyal will shop elsewhere.
  23. You can have all the rules you want, but as long as observers are cheating in favour of their home riders, with Italy and France being the worst, it will make no difference.
