  1. Thanks again - really useful. I tried moving the forks up through the yokes (about 10mm) at a trial I did on Sunday. It was noticeably better and far less prone to the sudden 'tuck-in' feeling towards full lock. So heading in the right direction adjustment wise. I'm not going to alter anything else until I've replaced the headrace bearings. They are much worse than I thought - clunking and notchy, basically totally past any useful adjustment. They can't be helping matters so I'll sort them out before any more changes.
  2. Many thanks (and sorry for the trial / trail typo!). I have a trial coming up this weekend so I think I'll use it s a practice for some adjustments as suggested above. I'll let you know how I get on.
  3. Thanks for the yoke examples. I know Paul at Cambs Trials so will bear that in mind as well.
  4. Thanks, I'll try the forks at 5mm intervals and see how it feels. Increasing the trial will slow the steering down a bit, yes? I used to run in standard configuration - I was attracted to longer shocks for better ground clearance and have been fiddling about ever since! Would rotating my bars back a bit have a similar effect? I've got 6in Renthals on the standard top yoke. Bar ends are currently about in line with the line of the fork legs, if that makes sense.
  5. Just wondering if anyone has fitted a top yoke from the Twinshock shop to a TY175? Looks like it moves the bars to be more central to the steering line. Did it (or would it?) make much difference to the steering? Mine tends to 'flop' into turns, and it would be nice if I could slow this down a touch. (Have 360mm Betor shocks fitted, standard forks and yokes, forks flush with top yoke as per TY Trials recommendation. Steering head bearings are a bit worn and notchy though).
  6. Thanks for posting this - enjoyed watching it. Amazing skill in such tricky conditions - I don't think I would have been able to walk through some of that mud, let alone ride it!
  7. Brilliant vid! made me smile, it's all so true!
  8. Hi - I'm similar to terrier above; 40+, mortgage, two kids, and just starting trials having never ridden off road before. After quite a lot of searching around I use a Fox Titan Sport body armour jacket - lightweight mesh jacket with back, chest, shoulder and elbow guards. When its warm I just wear a T-Shirt over the top, and when colder a jacket. I don't find it restrictive and it gives me a good bit of confidence. I also have knee pads that go under my trousers. When I get better and more able I may reduce the armour but frankly I'd rather wear it than not! It's helped me bounce off a few trees and rocks so far so I'm happy!
  9. I think my TY must be faulty, it can't do the things shown in this video. Or maybe it's just me?
  10. Great vid - thanks for posting. It's a shame it was a small entry, the course looks great!
  11. Thanks for posting - I've been trying to convince my wife that trials is not a 'male only' sport! I think this proves the point!
  12. I also use 11T on the front. Very good for a novice like me for slow speed control, but makes hills a second gear job if they are long climbs.
  13. Thanks for the help - all done and back together now. Haven't run it yet - the carbs out for an ultrasonic clean tomorrow.
  14. Ah - job done. I was being too gentle with it!
  15. Hi all Is there a magic formula for getting the primary drive gear nut off on a TY175? I'm trying to replace the crankshaft seal without splitting the engine or removing the barrel etc. I've tried locking the crank via the flywheel but still can't get the nut to loosen off. Any tips or tricks? Is it a left hand thread or anything? Many thanks, Alan
