Hi guys,
I've got a '97 Techno 250 with what i think is a Mikuni VM26 carb. Ive only bought the bike a couple of months ago and I thought it would be wise to give the carb a good clean out with the compressor so i know where i'm up to with maintenance.
Ever since i've done that, every now and then it will p*** out fuel until i give it a persuasive tap with a nearby rock. The fuel is coming from the float chamber overflow pipe and its not trickling out, it's coming out as if the valve is fully open. (Which would suggest sunken floats rather than a dirty needle valve)
I've taken the carb apart again for a another clean, I checked the needle valve just to be sure (was immaculate), I took the floats out and submersed them in fuel to check for bubbles but they both seemed fine and checked for any resistance on the lever mechanism.
The only thing i did notice was on both floats there was a flat spot on the pin that is in contact with the lever so i twisted them round 180 with a pair of pliers.
Reassembled every thing and its still doing it!
Wanted to check if this was a common fault before i start replacing parts of the carb
Cheers!
Lyle
