  1. Sounds like a fuel starvation. Have you checked your fuel tank, lines for flow, float height on the carb and fuel tap.

it sounds like you are getting some fuel to the float bowl but it can not be sustained.

    Plug is getting wet though

  2. Fair bet it is the stator or HT coil even though plug sparks outside cylinder, it probably does not spark insidecylinder

To rule out fuel shortage connect a 100ml syringe to the carb with a length of clear tubing. You can then see if fuel is flowing in correctly.

i know it has fuel because plug is getting wet after lots of kicks. how do i know if its stator or ht coil

  3. its fairly hard to start with throttle and wont start at all (i think) without throttle, once i get it started and it starts first kick after you get it started first. but after bike runs for about 5 minutes it cuts out and you cant rev it to stop cutting out.

Im think it could be one of the following:

    stator/coils

not enough fuel or too much

not enough air or too much

none of the jets are blocked and exhaust middle box was recently de-coked. Bike has spark.

  4. try removing air filter top to allow more air in and have you oiled the filter ,, or dropped dirt in airbox ,,

i have removed air filter and airbox, got it started and it starts first kick after you get it started first. but after bike runs for about 5 minutes it cuts out and you cant rev it to stop cutting out

  5. After I though I got bike sorted this happens. It was starting first kick when warm and after putting rear mudguard back on etc it wouldnt start I looked down at the kick start bolt as it had kept coming lose and it had fell out, also the washer that goes with that bolt has cracked in half and I now only have one half of the washer, could this be why it won't start?

  6. Finally got my bike started :) I took the packing out of exhaust and it was dripping with oil (my guess to why it wouldn't start) but when I start it without packing loads of black oily like liquid comes into silencer and comes out of the joint really fast as if you've turned a tap on. My fuel mix is 75-80:1.

  7. I doubt it. Clean engine and search for leak. Is it oil, or is it oil/petrol mix residue from carb. Did you find out if the engine was flooded with petrol?

its definitely gearbox oil because its red

  8. after kicking my bike over to try and start it for 5 minutes, i gave up, turned petrol off and then noticed gearbox oil on sump guard under clutch cover. the washer that goes under the head of the bolt that holds kickstart in is cracked in half but that wont cause leak will it?

  9. I just experienced they same issue. I put the bike away over the winter and treated the gas with stabil, as I always have.

I started the bike last week and it didn't want to die without the choke. Common issue - I cleaned out the carb (no thanks to Stabil) and put things back together.

Bam, first kick and she was purring. I took off the choke and the bike went from idle to high revs. I adjusted the idle screw and it eventually came down, but wanted to die. I adjusted the idle screw to bring the idle up a bit. It was idling well, then without warning began to rev like crazy!

Also, if it is idling and you hit the throttle, it will stay up on revs for a very long time.

Sound like an air leak somewhere?

    Thanks!

Same is happening on my beta

  10. To check you can use something like a contact cleaner (recommended as it's not as harsh), carb cleaner or engine starter fluid, spray this around the intake boot both airbox and carb side (one at a time) making sure you give it a good spray while the bike is running. Listen for a distinctive change in the sound in the engine RPM either up or down when you spray the cleaner around the boot. This is generally only good for large air leaks, yours sounds like it could be minor. I had the same issue and even with the above method couldn't resolve my issue. It was only until I took all the air intake kit off (airbox, tube, carb) that I found a pinch in the hose boot which was allowing the leaking air.

Is this a bike you just bought?

Is it your current bike and it's just started to do this?

Has it recently had any major servicing done to it?

i have had the bike for around a month, its had problems since about 2 days after getting it.

  11. when i start my bike with choke on it acts like its on full throttle, revs are really high instantly (i hold kill switch as soon as it gets high) and when i start without choke it idles ok but the revs are getting higher (not much) or lower (not much) without even touching throttle.
