  1. Interesting. I run putoline light gear oil in my Gas Gas, so was assuming this would be okay for our 04 and 07 bikes. I dropped the oil as suggested and there was about 350ml so topped up and pit back in. The filler plugs are rubbish. Soft ally and over tightened on both our Shercos. Idiots.
  2. I think you are right. That's the best option. Drain anyway and see how much comes out. Assuming it was correctly filled there shouldn't be much short of 450ml.
  3. My new to me Sherco 07 has a slight oil weep from the right hand side crank cover. It looks like the gasket may have been caught when it was replaced recently (prior to my ownership), or so I am hoping. Suffice to say, I have read many an oil change post but few, if any refer, to a level check. Is there a way of doing this by leaning the bike over or some such? I will order up a new gasket and change the oil, but want my daughters to be able to practise on it still without the worry of running dry. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  4. Yes pretty sure. I doesn't seem to have any less go than the other 125 we have. But now you have queried it I shall go and measure the piston height unless there is a better way from the engine/ frame numbers. The earlier 2004 has 124 near the beginning of the frame number, the later 2007 has 112. So this may not be relevant.
  5. Cheers. I had just wondered about whether or not it was the preload, although as you say, it may be a slight change in frame design. Now the question of suspension set up is another issue. Static sag is when?
  6. This is probably a really thick question. Last week we bought an 04 125 for my daughters to learn to ride. We then found an 07 125 and so my partner reckons as there will be 5 of us then another would be useful.. as you do. Anyway, getting it home and comparing the sizes, the 07, seems a lot lower in the frame and seat, even though on the same standard wheels. If there a junior version, or is it just a deign feature of the year. It probably suits the girls more, but I was just puzzled by this. So now two Shercos. There could be many a post.

    Newbie to Sherco

It certainly seemed to improve the more the bike was ridden, thanks. The little 125 is a sweet little motor. The down side of the day is my daughter's boyfriend broke my Gas Gas. Exhaust and parts including plastic.

Thanks. So it is certainly a common problem. I will try tomorrow when I take it out.

Thanks. This is what I am hoping, that the plates are just dragging. My Gas Gas does it a bit. However, not being riders at all I have images of my girls heading off down the field holding onto the bike. Not the best start.

    Newbie to Sherco

Hi all. I have just bought a Sherco 125 for my girls to start trialing. As one would expect I have a couple of queries from my new purchase, which will hopefully be quick fixes. Firstly, the year. the frame number has 125 near the start and 2008 at the end. Does the latter mean it is 2008 model o a coincidence? Also, I can't get the clutch to disengage the gears which wont be helpful if my girls are learning to ride. I know the bike has stood a while, so could a warm up and run through the gears help, and maybe a change of oil. I use putoline in my Gas Gas so could this be an option? Quantity? Sorry to ask so many questions straight off but I have told the girls we can take it for a ride at the weekend and don't want them disappointed if we can't. Three girls....can yo imagine the grief?
  11. Agreed. Splat Shop here i come.
  12. All good advice thanks. I cant just imagine my partner laighing her socks off at my lame attempt. Video is a good idea. Can check sll sorts no doibt. I am thinking of doing my first trial on boxing day so all help is a bonus. Ryans site is US but thete are shops here. Not eBay or Amazon though oddly.

  14. That's very kind of you to take the trouble to list the reviews and thanks for the comments. I have seen some of the Ryan Young clips, but not the others. I shall investigate Amazon and see what I can find. I know there is no substitute for getting out there and practising, but much like the Twist Of the Wrist series for road bike, a little more info or focus point can't do any harm.
  15. I assumed there would be a post about this but have not seen one. Is it a recommended watch for maybe a stocking filler for Christmas or are there better ones out there?
