You say that you have overhauled engines before but dont know if a big end overhaul is a big job??? Crankshaft out is a big job if you have little experience. To an experienced person its still a big job but not that challenging. Yes you will need to use not only a powerful press bur also some good alignment tooling and press tools, together with dti’s and vee blocks on a surface table.

I have always sent my crankshafts to a machine Shop for big end repairs. But i don't thing is needed if the gaps are okay.

Have a look at the Sherco specific site on TC. They are not difficult to work on if you know what you are doing technique wise, straight forward really. But you say you are going to do a top end rebuild and change the main bearings. What about the big end? You need to decide if you are going to take the engine completely apart....or fudge around. ?

I don't know if the big end overhaul is needed or if it is a big job. I think you need a press to Change them?

I have listened to this and it is not apparent the issue, as they all rattle and worse sitting in neutral while revving. does it reduce when the clutch is in and in gear? there will be some rattle in the primary drive gears as well when unloaded.

No difference in gear or in neutral

The only time it gets little less noisy is under load.

Kinda funny you say noise is from clutch side and the video shows flywheel side.

Not that it matters really cause its a noise but still.

Hard to tell anything from the video

Also id look for a small chip in all the gears behind clutch cover first as a chip will make a ton of noise.

Could a chip in a gear be the cause to all of these rattle?

    Thanks for the reply!!

  6. I have bought a sherco st300 about a month ago. At first it was running okay but the last couple of weeks it is running lean like it's about to run out of fuel.

Have checked the carb, the reeds, the fuel pump and the ventilation of the fuel tank. It all seems to be okay have also changed the spark and cleaned the air filter.

The Jets size are the same as sherco manual refers. I have put the needle on position 1 instead of position 4 as the manual suggests still no major difference. The air screw is at 2 cycles out instead of 0.5. Have also tried the original settings with no results.

The bike runs better when I have the choke on.

Thanks for reading and for any ideas.
