That was the first thing I tried, unfortunately not that simple. What relation would the kill switch have to the cooling fan ?
the plan tomorrrow is to take the multi meter to it and find out if there is any power. Am I looking for 12v, there has to be a voltage regulator some place not sure where
it is though. I have had a chat with the guy I bought it from he says he is happy to take it back and give me a refund to be honest that may happen as I have had a bad year for
mechanicals, I will update when I have a better understanding of whats going on with it.

I am properly fed up now just seen the price of a new fan, hopefully this will be some thing simple. ?
Rich.

Ok so hear come the questions, what sort of voltage should I get at the thermostat. Is it more complicated than just bridging the two thermostat wires to get the fan running? Is it possible the stator is not give enough juice to run the fan. Are the fans still available for a bike this old. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Hi to all.
Last night I was very kindly invited to a practice and training day at Raydon Pit Suffolk. So I got up early and sorted the previously mentioned issues and of I went. Thanks Gary for making me feel welcome. So ten minutes in I am just starting to figure things out when I disappear in a big cloud of steem ? so after a bit of diagnosis it turns out the fan is not working. Tryed jumping the wires at the thermostat made no difference. So I am guessing the fan is dead.

Good eyes Lineaway you are correct it's a 2002. Thanks Gary at Beta UK for the quick response, so two years older than I was led to believe but no sweat it's in good condition for it's age and I think it's going to be plenty enough bike at this stage of my Trials career.
Rich.
-
There's some very useful info there. The bike seems to be running very rich at the moment, I am not sure if it's flooding or needs leening of a bit. I will have the carb of tomorrow and have a look.
Rich.
-
Ha ha that was going to be my next question, I am sure it's not supposed to drop that much petrol . ? the angle the carb is at must make it hard to get a decent float height.
Rich.
-
Here are a couple of pictures of the other side.

Thanks for the input guys I will sort the bars out. I have also emailed Beta UK with the frame number, hopefully they will give a definite answer. After looking at the history it doesn't look like they changed a great deal.
Rich.
-
Hi to all, Firstly can any one confirm that the handle bars are set up incorectly on my beta as mentioned earlier if so what is the best place to set them.
Second question is a bit more complicated, the Beta was sold to me as a 2004 I have been looking for a spare back mudguard for it preferably second hand so I can
save the good one on the bike. After looking at a few on the net 2004 had an air box lid for easier access to the filter? My bike does not have this so I am assuming it's an
older modle. The last part of the vin is 5071 this makes it 2001 ? apparently could any one confirm this for me.
Cheers

Thanks for the advice, it looks like my first trial will be Corton on December 2nd, I am going with a friend who has a
more experience. I know he will enjoy any misfortune that befalls me but will set me of in the right direction at least.
Rich.
-
Hi lineaway not sure what you mean about the bars they seem comfortable enough. Are they a wrong bend or not high enough.
Rich.
-
Ha ha more than my life's worth to cut up the grass ? enduro tomorrow in Thetford forest then back to work Monday and Tuesday, but Wednesday is free to play all day. May go to a friend's he has a big garden with trials obstacles, I will see him tomorrow so should work something out.

Hi to all
It appears the my earlia statement is no longer true, this nice little beta came up less than a mile from me
yeterday, today its in my garage ? cant believe my luck it is in very good nick for it's age.
runs nice no rattles and has had the water pump done. After riding around the garden for a while it felt like
a pussy cat compared to my 450 Husqvarna., So now I have just got to learn how to ride it ?
Rich.
-
Here is the new toy, It looks to be in very good nick for its age engine is smooth, no rattles, has all the gears and has the water pump
problem sorted. I cant believe my luck for a nice little bike to come up on my doorstep. The seller is a local advanced motorcycle instructor he lives less
than a mile from me. Funnily enough I new the guy but had no idea he had a trials bike, he has uesd it twice in two years apparently.
Looking forward to having a play on it.
Rich.

Thanks Mark, it's always a worry buying some thing you have no knowlage of. Going to have a look tomorrow so I will
update.
Rich.

Hi again, just had a dig and came up with a rotting water pump issue is this an easy fix or big money, is there a tell tale like milky
gearbox oil ?
Rich.

Hi to all
I am new to Trials and even though I have been riding for 40 plus years, road, MX and enduro have never owned a trials bike before.
I am going to look at a Beta Rev3 250, So here we go what am I looking for as far as mechanical stuff. It has sat for a while, all the normal
stuff I am able to spot but is there anything bike specific that I need to be looking at. This bike is 14 years old so there is bound to be somthing
I may stumble on ? any advice will be appreciated.
Oh yeah I am am 6 foot and 16 stone will it carry me ?
Rich.
-
OK thank's Stuart that clears that up ? I have to agree, admirable work and it looks like you will
have great weather this weekend. I am pushed for time this weekend as I am riding on Sunday so
I will give it a miss, have a great weekend.
Rich.

Hi Stuart
I am a little confused according to the ACU website there's a youth event there on the 17th. My intention was to go and watch and get an impression of what it's all about.
Rich.
-
Just checked and unfortunately I am working December 30th this year so I won't make that one.
There is another event at Beazlyend Braintree on November 17th that I may be able to get to for an hour or two.
I am at the Muntjac Enduro on the Sunday so I might be pushing on time to get both in. Hopefully I will fit it in.
Rich.

Hi BasinBaker. Is that any thing to do with Haybridge Basin ?.
I am a Woodbridge club member ?, we had an enduro at Butly in September. I still get out on my mountain bike
at Tunstal and Rendlesham , it's not to far away from home so that will be a definite to go to. I assume I will be able to
find other events on the ACU website ? or will some of the club avents go under the radar.

Hi Turbo
The knees are already a bit of an issue I've had a couple of ops recently ? the engine size thing sounds like good advice I know my buddy is running his TRS on the soft map all of the time as it's a bit fiery. I have no idea about trials but have always had bigger bikes.

Hi to all.
I have an admission to make I don't own a trials bike ? I have been riding for nearly 42 years cycling, road bikes, MX,and enduro
I have only ridden a trials bike once. It was a friends Fantic 125 twin shock, it put me on my backside very quickly as I remember. It
was along time ago and for some reason it's started to burn me that I have missed out on a great part of motorcyling. One of my enduro
riding buddies has just bought a very nice TRS and is loving it. So the plan is to learn a bit about the sport and get myself a trials bike before
I am to worn out to enjoy it ? I hope to get to a couple of local events in the Ipswich area and see what its all about. This looks like a great place to start
learning and thanks for letting me join.
