  1. My 1984 TY250 mono came with a front disc brake conversion. It needs to be rebuilt but I don’t know the type of calliper or master cylinder to get rebuild kits. Does anyone know?
  2. My latest acquisition, a 1984/85 59N TY250. Are there any workshop manuals available to download?
  3. My swing arm is bent in quite a complex manner, simply put it's like a parallelogram when it should be a rectangle. As I don't know what most of the dimensions should be, and as it will need to be jigged and pulled the repair is beyond the resources I have available. So, I need to replace it. Question, do I try to get another 221 swing arm, which required modifications to both the swing arm and bushes to fit replacement brass bushes, or do I use a swing arm from another model? Next question, which other models will be compatible?
  4. Problem is that the swing arm bush housing aren't aligned either.
  5. I can’t check as the bike is stripped, but the rear sprocket has noticeably more wear on the inside suggesting that it is offset to the right of the front sprocket. This supports the swing-arm being twisted to the right. So how do I straighten a swing-arm?
  6. Sherpa 175 Model 221 Swing Arm and Rear Wheel Issues My rear wheel is offset about 17mm to the right in the swing arm. The wheel spindle is parallel to the S/A spindle. Maybe the whole swing-arm is bent to the right? Maybe the rear wheel has been re-laced and the offsets are not correct. Left wheel offset 40mm from sprocket mounting face. Right Wheel offset 35mm from hub edge. What's going on?????
  7. The sections I initially wanted look good, but in the meantime I've gone in a different direction. It would be a shame to cut up that frame anyway." I still want a side stand bracket however. Thanks very much for your help.
  8. Is it a good frame or a junk one? I ask because if it's junk you could just cut a part off for me and mail it.
  9. I could have, or buy? Are you in the USA?
  10. I’ll straighten everything up, install the tubes without welding them, and refit the engine to check for any interferences. I’d like to keep it looking as stock as possible.
  11. I have started restoring a 1975 TY80B that I recently purchased. First on the list is to repair the bash guard area which has been damaged and badly welded up. I'm not fully sure how to approach it at this point, but I'm thinking I need to cut out the guard plate, then try to reform the crushed C-section pressings on either side. To reform them I intend to get some round bar the same diameter as the inside of the C-section, bend it to match the bend to the down-tube, then heat up the C-section and press or hammer the bar into the section to reform it. Then i may weld some tube in to strengthen it. After that I use a bolt on Aluminium skid plate. Has anyone here tackled this repair before, and how did you do it?
  12. I'm late to this discussion, but the screw in the bottom of the fork slider will not be Phillips, it will be JIS (Japan Industrial Standard) which is different despite its visual similarities. You will always run a risk of stripping the screw head if you use Pozi or Phillips screwdrivers on Japanese bikes.
