  1. I was contemplating having it hinged so the height is minimal but could be lifted open to give good access to bikes or for shelter from the sun !!!

An old snowmobile trailer does just that.

Zippy, have you seen Brockway's trailer like this? Maybe he'll read this thread and post a pic.

  2. Zippy,

I'm really looking forward to this weekends event. Unfortunately I have not been on my bike much, but now is the time!

Sam's property is great. I always enjoy riding there, especially before mosquito season!

    Sam,

Are you all set for checkers? I know some folks from that New Paris enduro gang will be there. We could put 'em to work if need be.

  3. Sam,

Some friends of ours have a razor and Will has spent quite a bit of time on it. Fun little bike. It even gets around pretty well in the hills/woods. As others have mentioned, frame geometry is not very well suited for trials, but how tight can the turns be in the pee wee class anyway?! Another drawback would be the high gear ratio. Perhaps this could be changed by swapping out sprockets???

This particular Razor gets used pretty hard (jumps, high speed wipe-outs) and has held up amazingly well. Durable little bike for the money...

  4. China's industrial prowess is stronger than most realize. This is most recently evident in the bicycle industry. Think that Trek you ride is American made? Think again. Specialized...? same story. Nearly all of their bike frames are made in China by another "little" bike company named "Giant".

I also found this little gem a couple years ago. Back then I was under the imperssion that the bike was manufactured in Europe. If this is a knock off, it's pretty darn good.

  5. H &D Racing currently have a carbon/kevlar bashplate in development at this very moment for the 4rt and so will soon be able to let you know how it performs!!

Speaking of KEVLAR... I've seen it used in some pretty nice canoes (which do have their share of contact with rocks). If it can be used to build an entire canoe a bash plate seems possible too!

  6. Well, I can't always say this about the undies, but the airbox and filter are clean as a whistle. I'm not sure what to think about all these theories. I have done another 4 hours of section riding since posting and the bike runs like a top. It was probably gremlins anyway. They have been known to attack small dogs and empty bottles of rum in and around my home. Damn Gremlins...

  7. 2001 2.9

Warm after 45 minutes of section riding.

2nd gear, clutch in, coasting downhill. rpm's mysteriously spiked, like the throttle was pinned.

Once rpm's spiked there was no response from throttle input. Clutch stopped working (I held front brake and rear wheel spun in dirt) Kill switch had no effect.

Seemed like 15-20 seconds at full revs, then the engine shut off abruptly.

I waited a few minutes and restarted. Everything seemed to be in working order, clutch, throttle, kill switch.

I rode sections for another 45 minutes with no issues.

I often give rides to my little boys and would hate for this to happen again with one of them on board.

    Thoughts???

  8. OK, lets dig up bones!

I'm so fired up from people that live around me who have interest in trials that I'm keeping my trusty old machine as a bike to offer others to have a go at moto-trials.

    sam

Hmmm... am I reading 'tween the lines that Sammy has a NEW bike!???

Is it one that could (for topic's sake  ), be used to compete in the PRO class?

  9. Certainly not my first event. More recent than I care to admit... Mid-Michigan, late summer, humid & hot. Rushing to get dressed for the trial I put my leathers on right over my heavy cotton skivvies.(big mistake!) After 1st loop I was drenched in sweat & my a*$ was chapped beyond belief. Rode straight to the pits standing stiff as a board to avoid any pain inducing movement between the two half moons of my hind section.

Desperately rummaged through my buddies van hoping to find a first aid kit with some kind of pain relieving ointment... found it! Burn cream. I grabbed a handfull of the packets and headed for the port-a-potty. Not a soul was around when I locked that door.

With great anticipation I tore open a couple packets and applied liberally... aahhh, cool relief! uh, wait a minute, aaahhhooucchh! Burning, burning, burning! Cold shivvers ran up my spine. My voice instantly became that of a whimpering little girl as the pain increased. Thinking no one was around I continued my pathetic whimpering as I waited out the pain...

Finally, the ordeal was over. I could start the next loop and nobody would be the wiser. Imagine my surprise when I opened the door to find a nice young woman standing there with a look of terror on her face! I can only imagine what she thought I was doing in there, but I did not stick around to find out!
