  1. Hi Faussy, all seems tight, no play or movement. I'll see if I can adjust the shock
  2. Hi, I have just bought a 2005 Gas Gas TXT 250 pro, returning to trials after many years off. I'm not sure if this is a fault or an adjustment but I can left the rear end over an inch (25-30mm ish) before the rear shock engages and starts to extend. The adjustment on the shock is wound down so there is only about 50mm left. The swinging arm doesn't seem to have any play. What should I be looking for. All previous bikes have been twin shock.
  3. Hi Lorenzo, the wire is just black, it's the light making it seem there is a white tracer. No I don't have the lighting coil. I'm not sure if I will fit lights but if I do I'll use the Elextrex unit Any idea what this is? it came in a bag full of spares
  4. I've re-read the post and earthed the green, now I have a spark. I'll buy a kill switch now.
  5. Hi, I have black, yellow, green. They look original to me. The green in the photo is not connected to anything. The black and yellow are earthed at the same point? The black from the magneto is connected to the block connector, no spark but I'm guessing one of the wires are wrong. This is a temporary bodge just until I know the correct setup then I'll clean it up but the earth is clean and good.
  6. Thanks for the help guys. Next up, I seem to have just a coil and the 3 wires from the engine. I'm not have lights at this stage and when I do I'll go for an Electrex kit. At this stage I just want to assess a running engine. The coil was in a back with a black block connector, which wire goes where? or a photo if anyone has one.
  7. Did the light come with the bike when you bought it or did you buy them after? If so where did you get the light kit from?
  8. Hi Lorenzo, that's exactly the type of info I was looking for. I know that many of these have had conversion and update work and I've been out of this for a while so I can't spot it all. Thanks
  9. Thanks for the reply's. I tend to agree that buying a proper Sherpa is the best route, but since I already have this now I'll see it through with what I have. Half of the outlay is already done. The exhaust isn't fitted properly and will go behind the frame once I get started on it. I will be stripping the engine completely, so if it's just a case of swapping the gears I'll look for a set. Inmotion are selling new gearbox components at the moment, it's just a mater of what model Sherpa to use? probably model 80. This is the model reference I have found using the engine number. I can't find references to frame numbers alone. I'm inclined not to think it's a 125 with a Sherpa engine, if it were I wouldn't need to change the gears. 85 Alpina 250 (1 st Model) 6638 7/1972 85.000.001 a 85.006.638 Trail Thanks for all your input,
  10. When I was 15 my father bought a brand new Bultaco Sherpa, needless to say I spent more time on it than he did due to his work commitments. I loved it, super reliable and great to ride. Come forward 40 odd yrs and this (what I thought was a Sherpa) came up for sale locally at a reasonable price. it's all there, yes needs some work and a restore/rebuild but it doesn't look too bad. After checking the engine and frame number it seems it's an early Alpina M-8500619 and 9700356. I have had a quick search and it seem that these early Alpinas are basically a Sherpa with slightly different gear ratios. So here are my questions, I know this is the place to ask. Does it look like to you that is has a Sherpa tank seat until or any other Sherpa parts? and am I correct in my assumptions that it's not too far off a Sherpa? I am basically pleased with my purchase either way, I'll restore it anyway but I just wanted some expert eyes to see what others think. Thanks
  11. Well you were 100% spot on. I saw the bike today and the number make it a Mk7 Lobito 125 1973/4 . The owner was trying to tell me it was a 350 Sherpa. I knew that wasn't right but wasn't sure what it was. Problem solved, thanks
  12. Ah, now I did start thinking that but the owner says it's a 350. so I started to lean towards Alpina around 1973. I'm going to look today but I thought Lobido's were only 175's. Thanks for your reply, I feel I'm getting somewhere now.
  13. What year is this Bultaco Sherpa? I'm told its a 1974 but I'm not so sure. What do you think?
