  1. If you already have a one-bike rack on the back why not put another receiver on the front and put a second rack up there. I have done this with a full-size Ford van and with a Ford Expedition, so I can vouch that it works fine with at least some big vehicles. Just make sure you get it at the right height so you can see over it and so the headlights aren't blocked. On the van it was only a $20 job, welding a receiver tube onto the frame. For the Expedition they make a front bolt-on receiver (made to attach a winch), so this was more expensive, but probably stronger.
  2. For those in the US ... I have a full size Ford van and a full size Chevrolet van. Either holds three trials bikes inside (or three MX bikes, for that matter) plus five people. With a receiver hitch on the front and another on the back it can transport five bikes. Also, a van is a really cheap compared to a pickup or an SUV - about $5,000 to $10,000 less.

    High-octane Gas?

    I have tried 113 octane, 50/50 mix of 113/91 octane, 91 octane, and 85 octane in my Scorpas. I definitely like the 91 octane better than the 85, but don't notice any real difference goiing higher than 91.
  4. How long have you been riding your Sherco? Perhaps you should give it a few more months before messing with the power. When I started with trials I bought a 2001 Scorpa and my riding buddy bought a 2001 Sherco. I loved my bike and hated his. Mine had nice controlled power while his had a snap that made me think it would rear up and throw me off, and it did once or twice. But after a few months I came to covet his snappy power. Advancing the timing on my Scorpa brought it almost up to the level of his Sherco. On the other hand, it is easy enough to retard your timing and then advance it back in a few months - maybe it will save you from getting thrown off.
  5. Anyone have experience with Cheng Shin C186 trials tires? At a local store these are available for $15 to $25 depending on size. I'm trying one out on the front of my trail bike (Honda XR250), but only have a few miles so far. These appear to run small. The 3.00 on my XR is narrower than the 2.75 Michelins on my Scorpas. But I haven't looked at it closely - could be the rim is a different width. I don't have any accurate way of comparing the hardness of the rubber, but by feel it is similar to Michelin. The Cheng Shin's have about the same knob pattern as Michelin. However, each knob has one, two or three cuts in the direction of travel. The local shop has a wide selection of these tires, but no tubeless. And a Google search produces no tubeless versions.
