  1. is that a rear haul loop?

Yep, I cut a bit of 1inch wide strap that I had laying in the garage and burned the ends with a lighter so they don't fray. Then cut a hand width of black hose pipe, fed the strap through, then separated the threads on each end enough for the screw to go through. Very simple and makes a HUGE difference to handling/lifting the bike on and off things or when I fail a climb or whatever. You don't even know it is there when you are riding.

  2. you tried zip ties in place of the bolts so it breaks them first rather than mudguard?

I haven't but I am not sure quite how that would work. The guard dove tails under and into the bit of plastic in front of it and the two on the side screws directly into the frame. It's not like a bigger bike's way of mounting. Maybe I should try plastic number plate screws, that might work.

  3. Thanks, they don't realise just how lucky they are little sods. :D My little girl had her confidence knocked first time out on the bike and so in this video its the first time in 6 months I have managed to get her back on the bike. Her fear is gone now so we can get going on the skills!

  4. Used to having a clear tank and seeing how much fuel I have available on my KTM and so been caught out a couple of times with the aluminium tank. Anyone know of any drawback to the bigger clear tanks? Thinking it could be £140 well spent for me knowing how much fuel I have left.

  5. I bought some bar risers from mdracing 30mm for £18. This will straighten up your back and you can use your legs to take your weight. Will also lower the center of gravity.

Bar risers shouldn't make any difference to arm pump because it's gripping with your hand, not leaning on the bars that causes it. Leaning on your bars will put more strain on your shoulders and back.

Hi,again, I should have mentioned this only happens for the 1st 20 minutes or so while I go for a blast warming up. Maybe I just get used to it?

I've got Renthal fat bars on, 13 stone and 5ft 10, I'm gonna try rotate them back a bit this weekend

It's when you relax and don't grip so hard any more that it goes away.

  6. Get on the rowing machine at the gym and ride using your legs more. Hands should be very light on the bars when riding normally. It's mostly lack of fitness and stress (holding on too tight/though you may not be aware of it) that causes arm pump. For most people simply time on bike sorts it out. :)

  7. There is no doubt an adult can ride it as you can see on some of the promo video stuff. Made of mostly very strong adult mountain bike components, just not sure about how the electrics will last with an adult working it hard. Also, the chain/chainring isn't anywhere near the thickness of a adult bike size stuff and the throttle is a bit plasticy. I am 6 foot and 90kg/200lbs and it feels small and awkward to me but that could be because I ride the full size 300 all the time. It certainly feels much smaller than my bike! At 5'4" and 145lbs you might be perfect for it.

There are some drawbacks, the rear tyre does not grip anything like a proper trials tyre and you would have to run with it pumped up quite a bit. No worries if you ride in the dry or on concrete though. You would most likely need broader handlebars to be comfy. The grips are narrow for kids hands, same with the throttle side.

That said, many adults ride BMX's and so you can certainly adapt to it. Would be interesting to see how it lasts with adult weight being pushed around.

  8. Yes, tell us how you get on with softening the forks as I agree, we have bled all the air out and my nearly 10yr old can't compress them much. Not that it seems to worry him.

Brakes, we installed Shimano XT brakes, strong with good modulation and better levers for smaller hands.

Can't comment on the power delivery much as I have never ridden it but I wish we could get a better rear tyre!
