  1. I have heard rumours of the SACU Centre of Excellence. But, what is it going to do and what "facilities" will it offer to Trials? I have asked other club members and they don't seem to know either. Maybe Big John can help on this one.

Remember though to always be polite to observers and never argue with them when you feel hard done by

Mmmmm I'll certainly have to remember that! Mind you, there is not a lot of room for argument when the card is full of 5's and/or I'm upside down with a Gasser on my head!!

Will be at Woodside on Sun - the boys are riding - have to see what weather is like as it can be hard to stand on own two feet never mind ride if its been raining. I find it hard enough as it is!!

I applied for my licence on 14 Nov 2004. I phoned the SACU before the Ardersier trial and was told that motocross licences came first!! and that trials licences would be done later. Having explained that I applied mid Nov and, that I do not already have a licence, I asked what the situation was. I was told in no uncertain terms that I must take out a day licence.

Had I decided to ride at Peterculter (couldn't cos we were snowed in!) and at Ardersier, this would have cost me

  4. Maybe what we should do is to get trialscot to observe all the rounds as he is such an expert on these matters. But, like most riders, he will want to RIDE in his precious time off. So what are the clubs supposed to do?

I have observed many a national, although I would have preferred to watch my boys ride, I realise that without observers there would be NO TRIALS !!So I give up my time and stand in the P******g rain so that they (e.g. trialscot) can have a day out on their bikes.

I would also like to say that 99% of riders are extremely polite and good humoured but there is the odd one who looks like "a spoilt toddler in the sweetie shop when he can't get what he wants".

So get off your bikes once in a while and observe! It's your sport for god's sake!!

As for the comment relating to Gary Mac - I'm glad to see a "World Class rider" who doesn't turn his back on his local events. Get over it trialscot!!Seems to me that you should give up your job if you come home and youre this miserable.

Weather horrendous on drive over but turned out to be a reasonable day. As Boofont said water level wasn't high considering the amount of rain. Seems like everyone enjoyed their day.

    Boofont

Just seen the results. Well done you!

  6. Is grandpa the attraction or is it the female who lives not far away? Have you not taught him that girls cost more money than bikes and they'll give him a damn site more hassle.

Did you notice that Big Eck nearly got beaten by his grandson at Lumsden.

  7. Ah ha Big John long time no hear. I take you and the boys are going to Alvie at the weekend. I want to know what makes you BIG John? You're not much taller than me so it must be something else. Must ask Jean :hyper:

I take it there is a pub or a woman at the end of this race then Bigfoot. Can't think of anything else that would make a man run when he doesn't really want to!

  8. Bigfoot

I cant believe you would want to run 10K! Is your car broken? Are there no buses? Seems like too much effort to me. Is your running partner Boofont - I'm sure he's a closet athlete :D:D Got the name off Terry Wogan - how sad am I :hyper:

The sections wont be too bad if you have a diving mask, flippers and a snorkel!

  9. g4321 - I did get an apology on the day. Thanks for your help. :D

Boofont - I must have an amazing punch as 1 person didn't seem to recover from it! :hyper:

The weathers not looking promising for Sunday. Apparently the river is really high - we might have to use the bridge to avoid drowning (bikes and people).

Bigfoot - are you going to venture out of the North East this weekend.

  10. Boofont - you, Bigfoot and g4321 know who I am. I was talking to you at Ardross and Lumsden. I will be going to Alvie but just heard that the are going to burn the heather on the whole estate. I just hope they dont do it on Sunday!

  11. Getting back to Bigfoot and "what did we think of the trial". I think the A route boys who are used to big rocks looked at the sections and didn't pay them much respect. I overheard a few saying how easy the sections were and then had a big 5 or a scrambling 3. I think the sections needed brains not brawn. :hyper:

  12. I have to say that the ACU Academy and the sponsors of "up and coming trials riders" seem to look no further north than Hadrians wall. Gary didn't get sponsorship until he was 18/19 years old. How in Scotland do we get our youngsters to get the help and training they need? As the SACU don't seem to be interested we have to travel south which takes a lot of time and money.
