Took the old girl out for a good 6 hour practise session yesterday and all was ok, no slips or snatching from the clutch, a much smoother action all round, shame my riding skills aren't as good, bloody clay slopes are a nightmare!!!!!!!
Thanks again for all the advise. I sent an e-mail to aprilia tech dept on there main web site and got a reply back, my model does requires 1250cc of oil because it has the larger clutch, they fitted the the larger clutch in the later machine because of the hydralic clutch, it made it easier to control as the smaller clutch used to snatch more. The manual for sale on ebay is the earlier model (its the only one i can find so far anyway).
I would just to thank everybody for all the info. Found out now that I require 1250ml of oil in my model, I have a hydraulic clutch on this one so no plugs to check. I was advised the best oil for that bike is the Ipone 10/40 synthetic oil.
Does anyone have any info on oil levels for a 94' 280r climber. All info will help as i have nothing and I don't seem to be able to find out anything. Cheers.
This is after all that time and money has been spent. Complete front to rear rebuild. Akront gold rims with new 3.5mm stainless spokes front and rear, new fork seals, new EBC linings front and rear, new renthals low rise bars, all painted, full engine rebuild, new main bearings, con rod, big and little end, all new gaskets, gearbox re-shimmed, new piston and rings, all new oil seals throughout, re-gassed rear shocks, new sprockets and chain and Sammy Miller chain guard and tensioner.
Vintage cota if thats your bike I am well impressed, tried everywhere especially the spanish site but still can't find anywhere that lists 32M on the engine and frame no's.
I'm trying to find out the year of a Montesa Cota 123 i'm lovingly restoring for my son to abuse the hell out of, projects nearly finished but I would like to know the year of it. Engine and frame no's are 32M00045. Any ideas will be appreciated. Cheers. Tried the Montesa web site but no help there.
