    My Rickman Zundapp is the motocross version. That's why I posted my question here.

    But I did go over to the Classic Trials section to see what was there. Wow, great information! I posted my question regarding model ID there as well.

  2. Looking for some help. While mine is not the Trials version, I recently purchased a Rickman Zundapp. I'm looking for a web site that might help me figure out what year and model I have. There is a plate on the headstock with readable numbers.

    After seeing all these beautiful photos, a Trials conversion looks interesting. The bike came with a spare motor. I have a Saracen Trials bike with a nice nickle frame. I just might see if I can work the spare Zundapp in to that.

    At any rate, if someone here has any identification information for my Rickman Zundapp, it would be appreciated.

  3. I realize this is an old post, but I had the same question, and an old post recommended Silkolene Light Gear oil. I tried some and it did not work well with the clutch. The bike shifts well, but the clutch drags, as in pull in the clutch, and the bike continues on a bit. Plus, when cold, you better have it pointed in a safe direction when you put it in gear, as it's going wherever it's pointing. Breaks loose in a few seconds, but a little scary when it happens.

  4. I put a pair of Falcon's on my Penton Mudlark and it made a big difference, compared to the (older) Betor's I had on there. But as mentioned above, I also put time and money in to the forks, to get them working right.

  5. I realize this is an old post, but would be interested to know how you made out with your search. Wouldn't the frame be nickle plated if it were a Saracen? I have a Saracen Trials bike and the frame and swingarm are nickle plated. The frame in the picture from westyfield7 appears to be painted. Were some frames plated and others not? Or could it be the plating was deteriorating and they painted over it? The rear frame loop looks different between the Saracen and the bike in question also.

    I have never owned or ridden a Fantic. I am looking at a 1982 Fantic 200 that's in good condition. I compete in Vintage Trials on a Penton Mudlark that I've put a lot of work in to, to make it competitive.

    I would like to know what you folks think of the 200 and how it compares with other brands and models such as the TY, SWM, Can Am, RL, Montesa, Bultaco, Reflex and other brands and models from the same era.

    I have been told the Fantic was like an MX bike turned in to a Trials bike, but would like to read your opinions of this model and how it preforms in the sections.

    Thanks in advance for any advice and opinions you can provide.

  7. I have spoken to Bob many times regarding ITSA and AHRMA. Unfortunately for me, living in New England, neither organization comes close to this part of the country. Everything seems to be South East or Mid West. There are no Vintage organizations close to me. We have about 5 to 7 riders on Vintage bikes who ride NETA, a Modern bike Trials organization. We have a blast riding the Novice B line, and some riding Senior C, set up for Modern bikes. Just recently, they instituted a V gate where the Trialsmaster makes a decision to avoid a B gate he thinks might be too much for a Vintage bike. So far, so good. Usually, there are only one or two sections per Trial where this system is being used, usually where there is a steep ledge climb or drop off after or before a sharp turn. This is working out great, and I applaud the organizers for thinking of our small minority when  setting up the sections.

  8. The Trials at Unadilla went very well. 22 riders signed up and all had smiles on their faces, including the checkers. It was a beautiful day all the way around. Several ahrma class riders went home with some hardware, as well as a couple PV Fantics that were recognized for their efforts also. Thanks to all who took advantage of a wonderful weekend at Unadilla!

  9. Unadilla is an AHRMA event. AHRMA does not recognize post 79 bikes in their Trials program. The 1st year I set it up, I made the trophies for the Post Vintage class. Last year and this year Unadilla is supplying the trophies. We're doing this as a special addition to the Trials to help promote the Post 79 twin shock bikes.
    "Why no points for post 79 twin shocks" There has never been points for Post 79 Twin Shocks with AHRMA. This is nothing new.
    Getting treated like everyone else is the whole reason we're doing this for the Post 79 bikes. Re-read the original post.
    "Sorry for the rant". I don't even know what your rant is. As far as I know Unadilla is the only event that does this. You travel to the event, you pay like everyone else, you get scored like everyone else and you might get a trophy like anyone else might.

  10. There will be an ahrma Trials at Unadilla's MX Rewind June 10th. There will also be a non ahrma points class for Post 79 Air-cooled trials bikes with drum brakes and twin shocks just like last year. So bring your Can Am's, TLR's, Fantic's SWM's and others, compete just like everyone else, and get a trophy for your efforts.
    Also need help with checking. So if you can bring a friend, they can get in free on Friday, as long as I have their first and last names a week or two prior to the event.
