    A friend of mine contacted the firm 661 and they told that Tomcat is designed specifically for motocross, not for mountain bikers. Any ideas anyone what's the difference between knee pad model for motocross and model for mountain bikers? Which one would be better for trial?

    That's it, I've to get those ones. Thank you Fivemeister. 661 knee pads sizes are quite small. Size XL seems to be suitable for me. Perhaps the sizes are so small because of these knee pads are designed for young and lean mountain bikers?

    Are they 661 DJ or Tomcat? Tomcat is the one with fabric covered knee cap.

    I'm going to make modern trials footpegs for my Montesa Cota 348. I make them from 4 mm steel, using TIG. How long and wide they should be (without brackets)?

    The Motoplat ignition coil of my Montesa has a fixed wire from coil to spark plug. Any ideas on a good ignition coil with detachable ignition wire? My Motoplat coil is thirty years old and it's wire is worn out. I'd need a longer ignition wire than Motoplat coils have.

    Venhill advices to use a few drops of a light 3 in 1 oil to lubricate the inner cable. What's that light 3 in 1 oil? To nipples Venhill advices to use copper grease. What oil and grease you use to the inner cables and nipples?

    Undoubtedly that would be rational! But in that case the world will perhaps miss the one and only Hiro 125 trial bike.

    I'm planning to convert a Hiro 125 engine from the end of the 70's into a trial engine. Why? Who knows! The engine has six speeds and a reed valve. It's from an Ancillotti 125 moto cross bike. I have the Ancillotti frame too but it's too heavy and wide to converted into a trial frame. So the frame would be some monoshock (or twinshock) trial frame. Any opinions, advices, ideas etc.?

    Yes, I've painted the mounting tab! So it's surely best to sand down the tab to maximise the connection. Thanks for your advice.

    The Motoplat red Coil of Montesa 348 is mounted with two small screws to the frame. Have the screws get a contact to the frame? I mean have I to scrape the new paint off under the head or washer of the mounting screws?

    Thank you, "steve" and "Woody". I really appreciate your kindly words! My bike is Montesa Cota 348. The zinc plated spokes and nipples are rusted. I'm going to rebuild the wheels myself. I've built many old street bike wheels but have never used stainless spokes. I don't know is it worth to rebuild with stainless spokes and where from to get them.

    There's the air intakes on the top of some trial helmets (for example Premier). Surely good ventilation but how about rainy weather, snow, litter from the trees etc.? Any expreriences about Premier trial helmet?

    Yes, that's the bike I'veen seen! However I'm not sure about the green colour.

    I think I've sometimes somewhere seen a Villa 350 Everest trials bike. Now I however haven't found any information or photos about this bike. Maybe I've dreamed only?
