  1. How bitter you all are ? I have just basically relayed the facts of a conversation that went on during practice last Sunday after I asked where the bloke on the New Montesa had gone. None of us round here pay that much anal attention to whats hot and whats not ! We just concentrate on our own bikes and improving our riding. Most of us have only heard runours of 4 Stroke bikes over the past year or so. There was a assumption made that the Monty was a 4 stroke. I will not appologise or back down from my original post because I stand by it as that was what happend on the day. Most of you will not give a toss what I am writing here but I just thought I'd have my say as so many of you have passed judgment on me and my good character so quickly and cruelly. I only appologise to BA Baraccus for all of the **** that flew on his post after I first posted. So, In my opinion 30 4rT's in a field would create a hell of a lot more noise than 30 2Strokes. I have seen and heard a 4rT and they are loud. I worry for the future if 4 Stroke become the norm because Land will be lost ?! JonH Sigining Off............................................................................. ..........
  2. Oooooooh what have I done ?!!! I have a sound meter on my Mobile Phone. The land owner has a sound meter. The bloke on the monty was not my mate. We did not get to talk to him. His bike sounded like the 4rT I saw at the UK bike show last week. His bike was brand new. From a didstance we assumed it was a New 4rT This is not a back down ! Just some more facts from last Sunday.
  3. We were practicing last Sunday for about 3 hours with no complaints from residents nearby. A rider turned up on a New Montesa 4T and within 15 minutes the land owner turned up looking quite anoyed ! Funny thing was the Landowner thought that the blokes New Monty was knackered ! He asked him to leave and not come back till he'd fixed his bike ! After it was explaind that the bike was fine and that was how it should sound the land owner sent him on his way then asked him not to return with the bike as it was too load and would cause complaints. The only time this has ever happened before was when MX and Quad bikes were around making a row !! My mates and I have a good reputaion in the area that we have built up over time. We have proved to many land owners in the area that Trials bikes are not loud enough to cause complaints. So now most people dont group us together with the ' trouble making noise louts ' on MX and Quad biikes who loose access to land in our area ! How long will this last with the advent of the 4 Stroke ? My 200 GG at 20m on 1/2 throttle = 27 dB Blokes Montesa 4ST at 20m 1/2 throttle = 45 dB Threshold for the land is 35 dB at 20m
  4. Gotta give it to Yamaha for style !! Do they share the same engines being as tho Scorpa are linked to Yamaha ?

    Change Fork Oil

I'm working on my forks and suspension setup today and I was just wondering how much oil ( and what weight ) to put in ? Its a 200 pro 2002 The small crews are for draining the oil. Remove the tops of the forks but undo the top clamps frist.
  11. Come on theres got to be a few more than one person out there in the Midlands that could help !!!!
  12. I posted a while back regarding Midlands clubs and Practice riding. Since I started riding again a few weeks back I've visited a few of the old practice areas that I used a few years back in the Midlands area. Some of you in the Midlands will know and will have used the Rugeley practice area at the Farm on Power Station Rd. We had a drive over yesterday to ride only to find that the land has been closed for about 6 months ! The main reason for the closure is that certain nearby residents have made complaints regarding noise. MX bikes were the main cause of the complaints and therefore are no longer welcome. Upon talking to Ken ( The Landowner ) he told us that he'd been to court and spent a considerable amount of his own money trying to keep his own land accessable to Trials riders. The riding area is on a hillside and is home to some great riding with a great variety for all levels ! Inc. some very scary Boulders !! (Well.... scary to me anyway !) My main reason for this thread is to ask any local ( Within 50 miles ) riders to contact me via Email or PM so that I can give them the address of a representaive at Lichfield Council, who I am sure would be interested to hear from all of us in the area regarding the safe and respectful use of Kens land. I dont want to start a crusade, I just want ask all local riders to put the case foreward in a polite and respectful way so as to help get the land opened again. Ken has rules regarding riding in certain areas of his land and one of them is that all bikes should be pushed past residential areas until out of earshot. Ken charges an entrance fee and has a membership scheme in operation that entitles a member to a key to the gate for the whole day. If you are interested in keeping one of the best and only ! Practice areas in the midlands open then get in touch ! You must own a bike tho ! And you must be aware that the council may decide to call you up to varify that you are genuine rider. They should also reply to you as a matter of course. Thanks Very much for your support in advance JonH P.S. If anyone has got or has had a similar problem to this please post and share your ideas on how best to tackle the problem ?
  13. Got it now !! Youve turned the lights on !! I will repack the Exhaust and clean out the front pipe and carb. Not sure if I can see a fuel filter on the bike at all ? Had a little square one on the 96 Fantis Section that I used to own. Do I need one ? Any ideas for Plug spec for the 200 Pro ? Jon
  14. Just done mine on the 02 200 Pro. As others say the shaft can wear just where the seal sits. My shaft had a rusty band around it. Whilst your at it change the impeler if its worn ? JonH
  15. Thanks guys ! Gonna get all of the bits and pieces ready before I delve into the carb ! GG sent the wrong air filter for my model so thats gone back ! Gonna clean out the front pipe and re pack the rear box of the exhaust whilst I am waiting for filter and needles to arrive. ( Price up a centre box as well ! ) One other thing that I have noticed is that the rear box is split right where the cone meets the ring that seals to the centre box. So once I have emptied the box I will get it welded up ! This was obviously caused by the previous owner lifting the bike by the rear silencer ! The air filter is in poor condition ! I was gonna clean it out but I decided to leave it in place ( due to the absence of a new filter ) as I dont think it would be in one piece after cleaning ! Fuel is Shell Optimax with Castrol TTS F/S oil at 70:1 ( Too much oil ? ) Is Optimax OK ? I noticed on the TTS 2St oil bottle that it is for mixes down to 50:1 !? Should I use this oil ? If not which oil ? So.... for now all I will be doing is adusting the screws on the carb. ( Pointless cleaning all the Exhaust if I cant re jet the carb at the same time ) So.... as I undestand it the big screw is the Air Screw and the smaller screw is the Fuel Screw ? Also r2w you mention that the float bowl should be parallel ? I take it that this means that the whole carb should sit level with both wheels on the ground? Sorry if the questions are a bit nieve but I gotta start somewhere ! I dont want to be like a some people who buy bikes and ride them without setting them up properly and then complain that they cant finish a trial cos its let them down ! Thanks Again JonH
