  1. hi all, just wondering if any one does any practise on tarmac? There are some nice areas near me that i ride on a trials push bike which would be fun to ride on the motor trials bike or should i avoid this and stick to off road?

    Montesa Cota 200

A little update but sorry no pics I got the engine back together yesterday and it seams to have good crankcase and cylinder compression and i could get a good spark when i wired in the coil up to the stator so it should run. the forks are back in the yolks so all to do now is shot blast and paint the wheels and get them back on and then it should just be all the little bits to do. I have been looking at sprockets but dont know which sizes to go for... any one have any recomendations as i do want a half decent top speed (40mph comfortable would be nice but only if i dont lose slow speed ability)

    Montesa 200 Parts

yes i have used simpleybearings many times and although they are a little more pricey they do have the best search design and i have always found the bearing i need. engine build has been held up a little as the clutch cover has a crack in it and our tig welder is not rigged up yet

    Montesa Cota 200

the frame colour (don't shoot me) is hammerite smooth red (spray can). It is very forgiving to bad surface prepariation and when dry is very glossy, smooth and hard wearing (it does take ages to dry though) the shocks i had to compress in a hydraulic press to remove the spring retainer and spring then the lower portion of the body unscrews.

    Montesa 200 Parts

well i am rebuilding the engine at the moment and so far the only bits missing are a few washers, circlips and springs which i have found new ones i will have to order some new oil seals and have had to weld a small amount on the gear shift shaft spring rest. i will probably make a base and cover gaskets and use some sealer on the head so it shoud be rebuilt by monday if all goes ok thanks for all your help and to sensi for all the info he gave me over the phone.... was a lot of help

    Montesa 200 Parts

Im rebuilding/restoring a montesa 200 and can not find parts any where... where are the best places to go for parts? after a quick glance at what i have i will be needing a engine gasket set and possibly a few small engine parts other than that it will need all the usual service items (bearings, brakes, cables, levers, ect) thanks for all the help
  12. cheers for that guys... was thinking it would sort of be the opposite reaction as on a push bike i am heavier than the bike but on a trial bike it is heavier than me.....dunno if that makes sense or not... think im getting the hang of it
  13. Hi I've been it to bike trials (push bike) for quite a while but am only just starting to move on to motorbike trials (hope thats the right terminology). Im having great fun so far but would like to be able to track stand... on a push bike it is a simple case of turning the bars almost 90 degrees and just moving body weight but this does not seam to work on the trial bike... help please also are there any events or clubs in the hampshire area (UK) that i would be able to spectate at..... Thanks all Matt
