  1. I have exactly the same problem. I have been planning to strip carb and make sure all setings are stock. sounds like youve already done this so I wont get any joy. In the manual, it tells you to replace the plug cap every 3 races. I thought this was unusual and probably a misprint and should read just 'plug'. I was going to get a new one with the next plugs I buy, gotta be worth a try.
  2. You are not alone. I have exactly the same problem on my 2004. It lasts 1 to 2 hours between plugs. Black, dry sooty
  3. Phoned the nice people at BVM yesterday, and stuff arrived this morning. Roll on the weekend; see if I can put it in gear from cold without digging a trench through the lawn with the front wheel
  4. Waiting for them to call me back with a total. Still holding my breath
  5. Want to go down the 'do what the manual says' road to try to eliminate horrible grabby clutch. Does anyone know where I can get the ELF oil from mail order? cheers john
  6. Money has exchanged hands
  7. Thanks Dean I heard you were off to Glendon Sunday. av fun. Cheers pb
  8. I know the place, only 15mins from me. I'll take a look. Thanks Graham
  9. Hi I am new to all this, taking delivery of a montesa 315r at the weekend. I plan to join a club and start entering events at some point ( I know thats probably the best way to learn). Before that I want to get a bit of practice, so like the title says, does anyone know of any good practice grounds in Northamptonshire?
  10. The forks have a bluey sort of colour to them, a bit like an iridium visor. One fork leg has a little adjuster wheel (blue) of some sort on top. The frame sticker 'montesa' is a black outline. White plastics, red tank I think. The cooling fan has a manual on/off switch. Dont know which carb, the choke is a tiny flip up lever if that helps. I have seen two different types of clutch master cyclinders on 315r's. This one has a 'squarer' top, another I have seen had more 'letter box' proportions. Thats all I can remember.
  11. Hi All New here, please treat me gently I am about (possibly) to purchase a 315r. I want to establish the year before putting in an offer. I read on a few threads that the age can easily be disguised with new graphics, but the frame number does not lie. My question is: how do you identify the year from the frame number? My other questions (less important): Is there any important differences between different years? The clutch drags but is cleared with a quick blip of the throttle. I have read about various clutch related problems on this board with general consensus being that new oil and maybe clutch plates are needed. Is there anything else to worry about here? Thanks in advance, and greetings from newbie.
