my mates 348 is leaking oil from the gasket on the casing on the left hand side of the bike, it looks as though you can remove the gear lever and clutch arm and the casing will come off. is it as straight forward as this or is there any surprises in there. also where would i find a gasket for it any suppliers in the north west or online. the guy who sold him the bike told him he would need to use two types of oil in it, gear oil and automatic transmission fluid, is this right and if it is what goes where. i can see two filling points one on the side casing and one on the top underneath the carb. thanks in advance if anyone can answer any of my questions.

hi there my mate has just bought a montesa 348 i think its a 1976 model. it was running fine until he noticed some fuel weeping from the idle screw so he thought it would be a good idea to nip it up!!!!! he also tightened the mixture screw aswell. now the bike wont start, it turned over when i tried bumping it but it just chugged for a second then died. if anyone knows how many turns out the screws should be, i guess that it will be different from factory due to age and wear but if i could get it somewhere near i can fine tune it from there. thanks in advance. d tomlinson.

i thought it wasnt going too well when i told someone it was my first trial and he did that ooohh kinda noise. it doesnt fill you full of confidence. that trial sounds good but im busy this weekend, i could do with entering some easy trials to build my confidence.

hi there gunn i live in morecambe and in just about the same position as you i did the same trial on the 15th at least its not just me who thought it was very slippery. ive only been riding since october and that was my first trial. im going to do some of lancs countys trials which are all based around lancaster, ive been told that the easy trials arent too difficult but ill be the judge of that. eh

hi all ive just noticed there is a trial on at lindale cumbria tomorrow. i was just wondering if it was open to all or if its just for members or would i be able to join at the start.

hi there is there anyone who could tell me how much gear oil i should put in my txt 280 ive drained about 500ml out of it and wasnt sure if there should be more or less. thanks alot if anyone can help.
