  1. Chesire is a bit far for me to come for a tin of oil. Ha ha thanks anyway im in south wales. Il take a look at that website and may be buy some new filters then. i hate standing out the back of my house in the pi*sing down rain trying to clean a filter, it'l be a pleasure to stand at the kitchen sink and clean something other than b*stard dishes!!!! ha ha

  2. They just changed oil, seals etc and put in a nylon spacer cos the springs might not be as strong as the were new. the shop said i'd have to tweek the adjusters to set rebound etc to my own preferences, but they seem quite good as they are, but im only a beginner to trials so would i be able to tell??????

  3. Hi Pete

I cross referenced that part number and found some bearings

Dimensions are Internal 17.462mm External 39.878mm and width 13.843mm

Does this sound right???? the shaft seemed bigger than 17mm but i cant really remember.

  4. Had the forks rebuilt in my local trials bike shop, got to say it feels like a totally different bike, just got a few slight tweeks to make and lampkin can look out!!! ha ha i wish. thanks for your advice

  5. Ok I'l try and measure them, to be honest i was hoping some one would know the part numbers cos i've built the front end of the bike back and didnt really want to take it back apart until i had the new bearings. is there any other info u'd need cos the bottom head bearing is a tapered bearing????/

  6. I was refitting the forks on my 99 model txt270 and i thought i'd grease up the head bearings and that, been as forks were already off. i noticed the bearings were a bit sh*ty. just wondering if anyone new the part numbers of the head bearings i need for my bike. i know they sell them on fleabay but i'v got hundreds of bearings in work so i just need the part numbers and i can cross reference them then.

  7. Just stripped down my front forks off my 1999 txt270, wish i had known about the SMELL that comes out. ha ha. i stripped them in the toolroom in work and now everyone is asking where that horrible smell is coming from. i'v had to hide them out the back. ha ha. i've wiped most of the parts clean but does anyone know what i can flush the other parts out with??? maybe pertrol or parafin or something??????????

  8. Please can someone explain how i can adjust my clutch, it hit my knuckles before the clutch fully disengages so when i want to stop i have to use 4 fingers instead of 2 that i usually use. i dont mind thye long range of the cltuch from dis engaging to engaging but its a pain in the ar*e when it keeps hitting your knuckles???

  9. Ok cheers i'l check them out, just to check you said by adding that oil it would DECREASE the rebound, but i could do with a bit MORE rebound. I think looking at them last nite they have got a slight bend. perhaps i'l strip them down after all?????

  10. I'v just purchased a 1999 txt270 and the front end feels nice but could do with a bit more REBOUND, please could someone explain how to tweek the adjusters on top of the shock before i look and changing fork oil etc... or would it be worth changing it anyway as i dont know when it was last changed, or if it ever has been??

  11. Does anyone know the standard front sprocket size for a 1999 txt270??? I know i got a 41 tooth sprocket on the back, but i forgot to check my front sprocket and i need to order a set. Also does anyone know the best/cheapest place to order a set from??? i checked ebay and i cant see a set for a txt270. what size chain do i need? as you can tell im fairly new to this bike. ha ha

  12. Does anyone know where i can get a WORKSHOP manual for a 1999 txt270. the front forks on my bike seem a little soft and could do with a bit more rebound, but i wanted to change the fork oil before playing with the adjusters to get it set up for my weight and style. or could someone who has done this write me a small procedure including the amount of oil to put back in, and where you fill them too. any help would be great.
