I really think this will be left. famous last words! The TLR wasn't good enough condition to be left in, this RTL is in really good original condition and I reckon I would lose some of its 'charm' restoring it. Thats not to say it won't be touched, it needs a few bits doing here and there to smarten up! Plus if I restore it i'll be scared to use it!

Haha! Picked up this today, stripped it down and gave it a bloody good clean - came up really well. Totally different to the TLR, fantastic!

Got these bought, £40 quid which is a bargain tbh. Pretty big, will give me something decent to go over at parents farm

Not made a massive amount of progress on the bike. Got the forks back from been re chromed, so there as new. Need to order new fork seals then the front end can be built up. Its pretty much there, I'm putting a new main bearing put in the engine along with a new cam chain and various other bits of other engine work that needs doing, along with vapour blasting it down. Its hard finding free time at the moment to work on her, when its a nice weekend I want to be on the superbikes or at least actually riding a bike rather than stuck in a garage with one, so think it'll be next Spring when shes out - no rush and I don't want her first trial to be in the middle of winter. Picking up a 1985 RTL250s next friday so it'll mean I have something to play on. Anyway, one picture.

Looks well does that Trev, never seen one with a black frame before. How are you finding the reach to the rear brake now? How long have you had the bike? Joe

Yeah, that seems fine, this is a red frame / tank bike with drums. Sent a deposit and going to view it next friday so will keep you informed.

Why is there so little infomation on these bikes!

Yeah, I thought that but theres one on eBay currently with original logbook apparently which is down as a 1985, but its pink, with drum brakes. I always thought pink ones were the later ones which had disc brakes.

I'v got the chance of a 1986 RTL 250s which I'm thinking of buying as the TLR200 will be in bits for quite awhile yet. Whats the difference between the pink tank ones & the red tank ones? Which are the best to have if any? The one i'm looking at is on drums, are discs generally ment to be better on these? Plus what are they like to ride / reliability etc. Any help would be great. Joe

Looks really well, TLR250 isn't it? Ah, you bought the moveable footrest hangers - the ones that bolt to your exisiting hangers. What do you think of them? I stuck the Dep sticker there, the stickers quite big and thought it was to in your face on the outside and thought the inside was more subtle.

Roughly fitted in place just to see what it looks like. I'm pleased with it. The weight difference is miles apart! I now need to get the tank sorted then thats it, just small jobs to finish her.

Thanks, yours is brilliant, I'll be finishing the engine of in a similar style rather than painting it. What do you think of the yokes out of interest? Do you still have yours then? Standard clamps, I'm not a fan of fat bars on twinshocks, I just don't think they suit them. My personal opinion. The seat unit / tank will be a gollner style single unit in white / blue rothmans colours. The original tank is in good nick so that will be repainted in time in standard TLR colours if I want to swap it back.

The new ones are slightly different, if you look at my first set of photo's and these. The pinch bolts on mine are at the side compared to the front on the older sets, plus other slight differences. Look alot better. Get them, look great!

Came in the post today, Unsure if I should anodise them as I've been told it might come out patchy.

Inch an and a half mate. Back and down. I did the same on a mates TLR 250 and it improved it massively.

Will do Mike, might take slightly longer as there going to get anodised straight away. When did you get your Wes one? As according to the guy I spoke to on the phone, the earlier ones were far better - its just the latest ones where the quality seems to of slipped.

Just gone for Dep exhaust, whats peoples thoughts? The Sammy Miller welds seemed awful quality and the two Wes ones iv seen I haven't been that impressed with either. Plus I prefer the Dep one on looks.

Thanks mate, I'm hoping for end of August. I'll let you know what I think of the yokes, I didn't want to chop the frame so went down this route instead. Plan is to get them anodised Gold as soon as I get them.

Also got tyres on, eventually.

Yeah, I could of bought a nearly new trials bike for what this is costing me. But this once done shouldn't lose much, if any money. Which is my main reason. Plus I'v always loved the look of 80's Honda trial bikes. Just paid for this.

I paid £80 for used GasGas rims, my original rear one was knackered plus I wanted to run tubeless anyway. Managed to get a brand new, never used original rear DID rim, so got the original front and the new rear polished and anodised gold as a spare (as I know how hard they are to find second hand) Total cost was £420 not inc the price of the GasGas rims. It was on the xpensive side I thought but the finish is exceptional. Hubs are standard TLR200 hubs powdercoated satin black, stainless steel spokes with the rims anodised Gold with a polished lip. So that hopefully it won't show up quite as much when I mark the edge of the rims.

Andy, Fork legs are costing £160. Really good price I thought considering that inc collection and delivery service. They only had a few spots at the top so didn't really need to do them - I just felt it would let the bike down and annoy me knowing they were there.,
