Cylinder Allen Bolts

Featured Replies

hi there,

does anyone know if the allen bolts on the top of the cylinder have to be torqued down. If so does anyone know what they need to be torqued to. Also what torque do the nuts need to be that connect the barrel to lower casing.

cheers

Hi Jimbo

Does this mean you have found a new piston?

Give me a ring as I have lost your mobile no again.

Its really hard to get a torque wrench on my 1992 GasGas, so i asked BnB what to do, and they told me to do it to FT with a spanner.... F****ing TIGHT !

However my 05 Pro manual tells me

Cylinder stud bolt fasteners - 25 Nm

Cylinder head screws -11,5 - 13 Nm

Cylinder Nut - 25 Nm

Dont know if that will be your bike as you dont say, but hopefully that will help ?

Have fun

cheers mat,

I dont have any manuals for my bike so thats been a great help. Its an 01 txt 125 so hopefuly there wont be much difference in the torques. A job for saturday i think.

Cheers

jim

Dont over tighten them becuase the thread is abit crappy and its pretty easy to strip it and then youve got to get the whole cylinder head off and re-thread it.
