Sherco Rear Wheel

Now that I have resolved the clutch problem

(used lighter oil, bled clutch using syringe and clamped leevr to bar overnight, using a cable tie)

A more serious problem has arisen. The person i bought the bike from had recently replaced the rear sprocket...Good,

Unfortunately he failed to tighten the sprocket holding bolts....BAD.

As such the sporcket has sheered off the mounting on the HUB.

As such I am now looking for a new rear wheel. Is there any alternative but to buy a complete wheel assembly from a Sherco specialist?

Will any other make of rear wheel do?

Bike is a 2003 series sherco 125.

I think the hubs for most bikes are the same apart from the Montesa so if you find someone who has damaged a rim you could be in luck! also I'm sure you could just buy the hub from any trials dealer or infact wheel builder and get the wheel rebuilt?

What damage has it actually done to the hub? is it totally trashed?

The hub /sprocket mounting area has snapped off leaving only 4 bolt holes as opposed to the 6

Look on the bright side, The new bikes only use 4 bolt holes you could just say its a 2007. It don't matter if the bolts are evenly distrubuted right?

Just being a goofball as usual

Why don't you go and find somebody who can Ali weld, you have nothing to lose and it may be repairable?

Are they true ally though? I reckon just a guess mind but would guess the magnesium content will be high!

My guess would be that they are Alli, mag tends to be used for casing etc, I think Ali is better suited to the job (though its been many many years since i did anything to do with material science) But take the wheel along to a welder, he could probably tell easily & there is nothing to lose

I will try the welded approach, as I do know someone who Ali welds, but as previously mentioned the Mag content may be too high!

Would anyone know of any Brekers that may be able to oblige, or anyone else with a wheel to sell??
