Sherco 290 Cooling Fan Probs?

Featured Replies

hi guys

need a little help reference my cooloing fan on my sherco 290. im not too sure ifs working as ive only had the bike a couple of weeks. what sort of temperature is needed before the fan kicks in. ive been out on it this morning for about to hours and it still didnt kick in. is there a way of checking the fan is working without having to run the bike. any advice is very greatly appreciated

thanks very much

Are you sure it didnt come on?after 2 hours without the fan,the bike would have boiled over or even worse, siezed up.Are you at the north pole ??:wub:

first check the coolant level, the thermo switch for the fan will not work without coolant in the ststem.

The fan normally cycles after about 5 min. running from cold (around 180f water temp i think) . If it does not come on,

disconnect thermo switch and connect wires together, start the motor and the fan should run. This is only a temp fix!

If it still does not run, you have problems!

 hi

thanks for the advice guys ill run it up tomorrow just to make sure. ill also try disconnecting the thermo switch and joining the wires. ill let you know how i get on i may need some more help

Try to jump start the fan by flicking the blades with your finger once it's warmed up.

Or stick a 12 v battery charger direct to the fan. That way you'll bypass everything and know if it's just the fan motor that's had it. No panic if it is. Sherco ones tend to be quite expensive so I stuck a gas gas one on mine for half the price. Just had to extend the wires slightly. Good luck
