December 7, 200718 yr Does anyone know if the 2007 Scorpa only comes with a black frame? Made an offer on a 2007 bike that has a silver frame, is it a 2007? If not how can you age them? Thanks in advance.
December 7, 200718 yr 2007 model year (came out late 2006) has a dark gunmetal grey frame. Silver frames were on the 2006 model for sure (and probably earlier ones than that). Both have similar blue plastics but 2007 has slightly higher rear mudflap. 2008 model year (out now) has a black frame but white plastics. Other clues are 2007 model has black fork tubes and polished alloy triple clamps whereas 2006 model has chrome fork tubes and black triple clamps! 2008 model has marzocchi alloy fork tubes. I have a had a 2007 model for 12 months with no problems. Good luck
December 7, 200718 yr How to age a Scorpa? That engine's been around for so long now ....have you tried 'carbon dating'? But seriously, is it not just a case of checking the frame no. with the importer?
December 8, 200718 yr lots of the plastics can be changed and give one a false representation of age. In regards the SY250 look at the Chassis number stamped on the headstem. The age can be found on the last 6 digits. for example - 600185 is a 2006 model 700185 is a 2007 model 800185 is a 2008 model etc etc The last five digits represent the bike production number.
