July 13, 200818 yr Hi chaps my 270 (06) has started 'hunting' (not a steady tick over) after about 1/2 hours riding, Ive not changed fuel or mix %, air filter is clean, can anyone help. Many Thanks
July 13, 200818 yr mine does this when fuel is low. if you tank was full, perhapps you have a blockage in you fuel pipe or carb jetts?? that is all i can think of. i am guessing it ran perfecty before this
July 13, 200818 yr Author It's been doing it for about a month now, i'll clean the carb and jets and see what happends. It ran great before
July 14, 200818 yr Hunting at idle usually indicates a slightly lean condition. Disassemble and blow out the carb passages with compressed air. Also if there was a large change in conditions then the jetting can be slightly off. Usually this just an issue when the temperature changes dramatically like between winter and summer. While you've got the carb apart make sure your floats aren't binding on the bowl gasket and are set at the correct height. Edited July 14, 200818 yr by Dan Williams
July 14, 200818 yr Author I've cleaned out the carb, there was fine dirt at the mouth of the carb, this must have got through the air filter, I'll see what happens. How do you know if the engine is getting hot, the fan cuts in and out but can you adjust the temp sender to come in at a lower temp?
