Light Pink Oil?

Featured Replies

when i changed my oil it was light pink rather than the normal darker!, all i can think of is that water is getting into it, what do i do? and i did want to sell it!!! not happy

It is most likely that you need to replace the water pump seal and shaft, if you replace only the seal, it will leak again in short order. (the shaft gets a groove worn in it where it spun in the seal).

Don't be too hasty....are you sure its not just ATF in the gearbox rather than 'oil'?

Water ingress normally causes white emulsion in oil rather than pinkiness?

Maybe others will confirm this. Certainly check the system but I wouldn't be rushing out to buy bits unless I had made sure.

it looks whitey pinky and i've looked in the rad and lost about 100ml or so. its annoying as i wanted to sell it to buy an R6.....

The pink colour of your "oil" is water in the ATF that is most often used, and recommended by many for the gearbox/clutch. I have changed many of the seal/shaft assemblies on the Pro bikes as this would appear to be a weak point of the otherwise good engines.
