September 25, 200817 yr how come every time you take something off its a big hassle putting it back on! do these parts bend when on the bike stretch? i took the sump gaurd off the bolts nearly took my eye out!
September 25, 200817 yr Yes, the sump guard is under a fair ammount of stress..if thats the right way to describe it. Its been a while since I did one but I seem to remember using g cramps to take the load whilst undoing the bolts, since the first time I ever did it I nearly pulled one of the threads out of the frame on the rear bolts.
September 25, 200817 yr taking the bash plate off is the easy part, putting it back on is fun, i usually put the front ones in loosly and then sit the bike on a stand to bring it up closer and then use some plumbers pliers to squeeze it up enough to get the bolts back in, aparently it helps to hammer it flat if its a bit battered but i've never needed to bother.
September 26, 200817 yr I use a heavy duty ratchet strap, the type used on lorries, I wrap it all the way round the bike , so the underside is pulling against the bash plate and the frame/petrol tank.. Piece of p*ss 2 minute job ! Edited October 3, 200817 yr by Dougie Pumpkin
