September 20, 200421 yr Got talking about this at a trial yesterday: what was the first production trials bike? I think it was the Norton 500T. Any other ideas?
September 20, 200421 yr I belive it was a scott, no idea what model, but it was produced around 100yrs ago. Thats where we get the scott reliability trial from. Mr Alfred Scott wanted to test how reliable his bikes were so he came up with the scott trial. I think it was based in west yorks at the time.
September 20, 200421 yr Author Nah John, Scott made road bikes that were used in trials and tested in the Scott trial. I don't think Scott ever made a real trials bike. I'm open to correction though. I was looking for the first bike that was a genuine production TRIALS bike as opposed to a modified road bike used in trials. My feeling, as mentioned in the previous post, is either a Norton 500T or RE. Both were "works reps" and both were miles away from real works bikes.
