Long Range Tanks

Can't you just strip the paint off and leave it unpainted.

My guess is that they're not supposed to be painted at all.

Mine is unpainted and when I put a sticker on, it fell off after 2 days, just sat in garage................nothing will stick to the plastic.

I reckon the tanks are porous to petrol vapour and won't stand painting.

Same technology as the first plastic tanks that were used on dirt bikes in the 70/80's............I guess.

Just about managed to get all the old paint off after several hours picking!

Hasn’t come up too badly so I may just put some polish on it and see what it looks like.

I do remember seeing one of these tanks painted in Repsol colours though so I assumed that with the right preparation and type of paint it would come out ok.

I had my large tank painted in Repsol colours for SSDT lasy year, my friend painted it for me at his shop. You can contact him at his web site www.spj-designs.com

I know he used 2pack lacquer and baked it on. It has lasted perfect, and has been scratched but the paint isn't peeling or bubbling. Drop Steve a line at SPJ im sure he will help as he was a trials rider before going road racing (junior kick start in 1988)

His web site worth a visit anyway, he does lids as well.
