hello

totally new to this. i have read somewhere you have to be careful kickstarting these bikes. i am currently riding a yz125 and i have no problems starting it with just a good solid kick. i read that the gasgas though shoudl be kicked over very differntly.

can somone please point me in the direction here so i dont f-up my bike?

thanks so much.

Just dont slap or stab at it. Instead, make sure you place your foot on the kicker and press down until you feel resistance each time you kick. This will ensure that the Kick start pawl is enguaged with the idler gear. At that point, you can give it some gusto. Best if you are well leveraged above the KS and can use your weight. I try and park my bike so the KS is on the downhill side - just to make it easier kick through. Using this process, you shouldnt have any problems.

Here is a technique that Jim Snell subscribes to that minimizes the shock to the KS components.
