Montesa 172

Featured Replies

Can any one help me,i have a 172 montesa the crankcase side of kick start is damaged my friend can repair it but we are unsure where the kickstart shaft cam thing should stop (hope that made sense). Could someone send me a photo or tell me at what pos the kickstart cam stopper thing should be at.I have got a parts book but it does not show any night on subject.

Thank you

Go to this site southwestmontesa.com. Under Repair Guide I am pretty sure you will find what you are after

The lobe rests on the casing at around 1 o'clock which is where the kickstart should be (and at a position that you often hit with your shin!!!) , if you put the kicker further forwards the lobe will puncture the mag housing case when you kick over fully.
