August 12, 201115 yr hi there just wondering weather you could help me ,i need to change the piston and rings in my 00/01 scorpa 250 , i just wanted to know do i really need to change the piston itself could i get away with just cleaning the piston up and just changing the rings and small bearing ,i would like to do the lot but funds are against me do you think it is good or bad idea please give me your thoughts all helps cheers james Edited August 12, 201115 yr by scorpa01
August 12, 201115 yr Author i know its a scorpa and i understand they are loud when running but my friend has told me to change them as its a sort of chattering noise and dont want it to start scoreing the barrel other wise expensive job that could be saved by replacing the rings and piston if needs be p.s also what sort of money am i looking at to change everything Edited August 12, 201115 yr by scorpa01
August 12, 201115 yr If you are going to pull it apart, if you can get the cylinder off without separating the head from the cylinder, you will save the substantial cost of a new head gasket.
August 13, 201115 yr Sorry fella, if probably chattering the Nicosil is worn at the ports, i've broken enough TYZ's to know that there is a good chance it's Scored already. You can probably re use your head gasket tho. Edited August 13, 201115 yr by godzilla
